Pisoni Vineyard Pinot Noir 2011

Oh boy, how do I handle this wine. Having it young was too intense to drink, having at some point later seemed to be over the hill but now thinking that was a flawed bottle. This one was excellent with a ton of dark fruits mainly blackberries, plumbs and others. Also, had some cola and wood notes. Excellent from start the long finish. Think it could go for some more years but why bother when drinking so great now. This is my last bottle and that’s fine since I’m an old guy and can’t be buying expensive wines that you need to hold for 10 plus years — 16 hours ago

Garys' Vineyard Pinot Noir 2011

Subtle aromatics, tertiary color changes. Very nice for a 2011, although past it’s prime. Cork almost totally crumbled with the use of a corkscrew. — 4 months ago

Estate Cuvée Pinot Noir 2021

Medium Ruby color with aromas of fresh berry fruits with spicy notes. On the palate flavors of raspberry and cherry with cigar box, oak, tea, citrus and floral spice notes. Well balanced, savory fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit, spice and earthy notes. Very nice! — a month ago

I’m scoring as is today, but I really think this inches upward a bit over the next 5-7yrs.

This fell victim to curiosity (as well as a ‘21 Modus Operandi UV-Laguna Pinot). I’ve had a few of Lato’s entry and mid-level offerings, but this was my first Pisoni from them. Loved it.

Profile wise, this is similar to Dumol (not as big as Aubert, but not a lean style either). A very pretty down-the-middle style. While the aromatics here were lovely (honeysuckle, faint lemon cream, citrus and sweet baking spices), the texture of this wine was a standout. Sports much more depth than initially expected (yellow fruits, peach, apricot, pink cotton candy, limestone)…not quite a lees-y style, but close, while remaining elegant and light on its feet (good acidity). Oak is there but plays a supporting role. For being so young, this was a supremely balanced wine. I need to consider buying more.

@Shay A Paul Lato makes great wines. Many of them drink well on the early side. Great notes.
