This bottle was opened several hours prior to service and enjoyed over the course of four days. Best on Day 4. The 2022 Peterson Family Vineyard pours, an inky purple color with an opaque core, moving towards a magenta rim; medium+ viscosity with significant staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of black cherry, black plum, lavender pastels, smoked meat, dry earth, Madagascar vanilla and fine baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and silky. The alcohol is high…but remarkably in balance. Still, this is an enormous wine and while it’s really well made, it’s something I wouldn’t be able to drink often. Drink now through 2042. — 7 months ago
Mourvèdre Madness Monday. Common threads: tart blackberry, characteristic rustic meatiness/ferrous quality and reduction.
Mataro from Zin master Joel Peterson. Richest, most forward and fullest bodied of the bunch by far. Extracted but balanced. Tannins are plush and wooly. Fresh violets, smoke and licorice. — 4 years ago

A 25 year old gem pulled by Joel Peterson himself. I was one of the lucky ones to snag a mixed case of his cellar selections from 1991-2013 for BD16. Still going strong with such incredibile fruit. Gonna share them of course but sneak a Coravin taste here and there … — a year ago

Great everyday drinking wine especially for the price. A little bit of a dry finish. — 7 months ago
So Delicious! Blackberries, blueberries, cherry liquor, black licorice, eucalyptus. Graphite, vanilla, earth, great long finish! I opened this early, it could benefit from a few more years! I have justification for opening this! I just found out that my son proposed, officially engaged! — 4 years ago
Nose of raisins and licorice. First sip was too oaky for me, but I hate tasting any oak. With food , much nicer. Nice rounded fruit, mouthfeel. With a buzz, even better! Score keeps going up. Blend is 58% carignane, 23 Grenache, 15 Syrah, and 4 petite sirah. — 4 years ago
