Holy smokes, no dosage and terroir!
R. Pouillon "Les Blanchiens" Mareuil-Sur-Ay 2007 "Brut Nature"
The persistence and density is profound while the terroir is perfectly on display. It does not taste like Champagne perse but more like a wine from a specific place with bubbles.
Complex and intertwined palate notes and a superbly fine bubbles create a texture of bead, mousse and that is then awash in pitch perfect acidity.
A good friend once said that while no dosage can seem crazy in some instances, in the right Champagnes it is great and can make so much sense.
This Pouillon is exactly one of those great instances! *Full Disclosure: I am not usually a fan of no dosage, especially in extreme examples - it just goes to show you have to always keep an open mind in wine (and life)! — 10 years ago
This pushes the envelope. Gerard Perse style. Wow it is massive and endowed. I thought it would be perfect to try today but this is way too young. It is pavie at $40.... Awesome stuff and perfect with steak florentine. Camphor, pen ink and kirsch on the nose with loads of dark blackberry and mocha. Creme de menthe and creme de cassis emerge after a half hour — 11 years ago

Barrel Sample. Of the flagship Perse wines, this was the most giving of the bunch. A relative quiet beast that will require time, but will provide amazing pleasure if given the right amount of time. 94-96pts — 9 years ago

Barrel Sample. Just like I said last year when I first tasted this, this is the real deal for Pavie. I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be the very best from Pavie in the entire Perse regime. If you see it offered, it really is something special. — 9 years ago

2018 vintage. A blend of Merlot (65%), Cabernet Franc (20%), and Cabernet Sauvignon from diverse vineyards in Saint-Emilion and Côtes de Castillon owned by the Perse family. Aged for 15 months in used barrels from Pavie and Monbousquet. A solid,bold wine, ready to drink, with good fruit and some of the chalkiness that I associate with Castillon. Abv. 14,5%. — 6 months ago
