This pushes the envelope. Gerard Perse style. Wow it is massive and endowed. I thought it would be perfect to try today but this is way too young. It is pavie at $40.... Awesome stuff and perfect with steak florentine. Camphor, pen ink and kirsch on the nose with loads of dark blackberry and mocha. Creme de menthe and creme de cassis emerge after a half hour

The nose has good dark fruit, plum, black raspberries, black cherries. Hints of matchbox and oak. On the palate we find the dark fruit hits right up front. The black cherries are very pronounced. Very smooth, a little spice with a big mouth feel and a good tannin play. A very nice Right Bank and recommend to the Merlot lover out there.

80 % Merlot 10 % each of Cab Franc and Cab Sauv. This is a thick, dense, powerful right bank wine. Not for everyone but very deep with dark berries and black licorice.

Graphite on the nose and not a lot of fruit. I would say it's sideways but I think was probably better out of the chutes. The finish almost has a vinegar hint- which isn't good!

aromas of tobacco, raspberry, cedar, black cherry, a little chocolate/cigarbox. this has good acidity, balanced tannins, cranberry, black cherry, ripe plum, wood, nice smooth mouthfeel....i ❤️ castillon.
