Monthly WTF wine group tasting. This month’s theme was chardonnay from any region or vintage. Nice eclectic bunch!
I am aware of the relationship between Odette and Plumpjack, and while I don’t know the differences in their reserve Chardonnay winemaking, this Odette is (for my taste) incredibly superior to the Plumpjack version. Modern Cali chard with a touch of restraint (I think there is some stainless used here). Aromatically it shows ripe stone fruits, melon and clove, while the palate is quite viscous with melon, lemon cream, Powdered lemon bar, and lemon oil. Lots to like here. This is drinking beautifully young. It’s round and juicy. It’s dark currants, blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, plum skin, dry powdery tannins, dark chocolate, coco powder, layered baking spices, dark spice w/ some heat with dark florals & lavender. Nice acidity and polished.

I like it but the odette is better. The finish is quite there. It's very good though. 9.0. $249 — 2 years ago
Magnificent, striking current flavors in the nose and the mouth. This is a JUICE. BOMB. So much body, it extends into an interminable (mesmorizing!) finish. I love the expressively balanced tannins - so much nuanced structure! Also in play is violet, leather, and a hint of spice box. It all plays so well together though, Odette presents an exquisite symphony of refinement. — 3 days ago
