Lily Hill Vineyard Zinfandel

This has a very RRV characteristic that I don't normally see in Dry Creek, except maybe Nalle. It has a lifted bright bramble cranberry fruit I love and a transparancy. It reminds me very much of the Harvest Moon Pitts home vineyard but a bit softer and riper.. I love this wine. ( also a bit higher in ABV than Harvest Moon.) No apparent oak whatsoever. Excellent. Want more and let age 2 more years. — 3 years ago

I would have guessed a delicious Rosso di Montalcino,

Reserve Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel 2004

Last bottle I have, but hell, why wait when it's peaking like this.
Actually it's reminiscent of old-school Rioja.

Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here's a nice one from Sonoma County.

Deep ruby in color with a nice reddish rim.

Fruity nose with blueberries, black currants, cherries, wood, vanilla, spices, licorice, black pepper, coffee and cloves.

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity and nice legs.

Dry on the palate with plums, cherries, blueberries, wood, cloves, earth, coffee, light cola, graphite, spices, bitter herbs and peppercorn.

Medium plus on the finish with soft tannins, spices and tangy raspberries.

This is a very enjoyable Cabernet Sauvignon from Dry Creek Valley. Showing mild complexity, at this stage, with a nice mouthfeel.

Nicely balanced, although still young. Would be better in the next 5 to 10 years, as It gets more complexity. The tangy and spicy finish, makes it interesting.

This Californian Bordeaux blend is more subdued than the ones that are being made today. Less in your face kind of wine. Old School California Cabernet 😊

Good by itself or with food, and needs a couple of hours to open up properly.

I paired it with cheeses and crackers. It was very nice with the aged English Cheddar cheese.

A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot. A small production of only 120 cases.

13.7% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

Signature Donn Chappellet Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1987

Decanter worthy! Wild cassis to luxury leather. Truly one of the best California Cabernets I have ever had, the other was 1984 Mayacamus Cabernet. Next up - 1988 Nalle Family wines Cabernet. — 4 years ago
