Mountain Goat Beer

Donkey & Goat

Lily's Cuvée Pétillant Naturel Anderson Valley Chardonnay 2022

2022. More complex aromas and flavors than most pet-nat that I’ve had. Pulled out of the beer fridge because I wanted an Averna Spritz before dinner. ~200 mL of Sparkling Wine for two spritzes means there was enough left to enjoy on its own. — 4 months ago

Hall Wines

Diamond Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Beer me a burger, baby. In a perfect place to enjoy Hall. Primary fruit has integrated yet hasn’t faded in the least. Tannins have eroded to silk. Plenty more to give but I’d venture this is where you want Hall. — 4 years ago

Rattlesnake Spring Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Medium ruby color. Baking spices and blue fruit on the nose. Excellent flavors of cassis, dark plums and blueberries. Super sleek tannins and juicy acidity lead to a really nice finish showing tastes of root beer and blackberries. Very interesting wine that probably continues to improve over the next 5 to 10 years. — 5 years ago

Arcudi

Black Sears Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Birthday and Father’s Day celebrations. Special treat from a client. Black Sears Vineyard living up to all I have heard. Rich dark fruit, blackberry pie in a glass, soft tannins, a very balanced wine, served with smoked bbq beer can chicken, roasted veggies and potatoes. Spices from the chicken pairing very well. What a nice treat. Well done Mr. Arcudi! — 3 years ago

Kwak Malt

Topaz with heavenly streamers stretching for perfection. Creamy head of structured perfection in terms of density and longevity. Perfect sheet of fog lacing falls like a slo-mo curtain to reveal layer two of mountain snows reflecting moonlight. Nose of bananas foster in all its blazing brandy and it’s caramelized olfactory topography; a malt image in sensory sepia to match the mountainscape. Nutmeg, cola and pecan dessert vies with baklava. The palate is a revelation in balance. The expected Belgian malt emerges in contrast to a dappled vanilla and Connecticut tobacco, pecan shell dryness, and chicory coffee before returning to a root tonic sweetness, and cardamom. #kwak #belgianspecialbeers #belgianale #belgianbeer #pauwelkwak #pauwelkwakbrewery #beer #bier #birra #biere #ale #ceveza #cerveja #belgium #belgian — 4 years ago

Wow what an old timer wine showing beautifully right off the bat. Beautiful plummy earthy rich nose into balanced still lively palate and firm texture into a harmonious and long finish. Pleasure to drink. A surprise for a 32 year old but probably from the glory days of this vineyard and varietal? Perfect for the leftover cheese ML brought weeks ago, Formaggio’s Twin Farm Goat Tomme Goats Milk from West Cornwall VT. Half bottle downed, unusual for me. Well, after three days of DE beer (quite good) and dinners alone! — 3 years ago

La Jota Vineyard Co.

Anniversary Release Cabernet Sauvignon 2000

Nose has mashed blackberry, ripe black current, ripe black cherry, wet saddle leather, horse barn, dried mint, fried green herbs, chopped bacon, muddy garden soil, constantly developing...

Palate has mahogany shavings, black cherry 🍒, dried garden soil, day old bacon bacon 🥓, over-ripe black currant, warm dark chocolate, (minor) baking spice with a very long and intense finish. This wine has at least a decade in front of it tonight. Perfect, supple cork on extraction.

Still quite tannic, decanted 4h, needs much more time to reveal it's true self.

My retailer commented this was not a standard CA Cabernet, more Bordeaux-like, and he was fully on point. The stink on the nose really pointed us away from CA right away.

Paired to some expertly grilled, medium-rare Delmonico steaks from my favorite, local farmer in Columbia Co. NY (Kinderhook Farm), well salted (in advance). Finished with Maldon smoked sea salt, best which exists in the world, IMHO. Also roasted beets with goat feta from VT, where I can only image goats listen to Phish and eat Ben & Jerry's ice cream daily, because only a stress free life like that could yield cheese this good.

I'd like to know the blend on this, should anyone know, I can't believe it's 100% Cab based on the stinky nose, which we appreciate.
