Vittorio Moretti bought the property in the 1970s.
His first vintage in 1979 was made with the idea of having his own wine to drink with friends.
Let’s all agree that we need a friend like that. — a year ago
A very good winter wine that would warm you up without feeling like you’re in a hot tub — 3 years ago
Light, floral and perfumed nose, Medium bodied with grippy, dusty tannins, with prominent flavors of red and black cherry and hints of coffee, hibiscus and a nice freshness that lasts and lasts, with a very slight taste of wet stones at the veryyy back of the palate at the finish. We liked it and would but again! — 3 years ago

Some IGT wine to pair with red meat sauce (Sunday Gravy) on Penne from Lilian’s Kitchen for my birthday entree.
The 2011 Oreno is a blend of; Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.
The nose as I poured it from the decanter had bright, brilliant, blue & purple florals. Ripe, lush & ruby; blackberries, blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, poached/baked strawberries, boysenberries & blueberry notes. Incense, savory meats, dark, fruit cola, anise to black licorice, dark spice, clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, limestone, dark, rich, black earth, dry crushed rocks, soft dry herbs, saddle-wood, not quite dry tobacco, leather, hints of graphite with dark, red, blue, purple flowers laid in lavender.
The body is, rich, round & just hits full. Still a shade early on opening. Needs another 3 years in bottle. The tannins are nicely round but, still show chewy tarriness...45-50% resolved. The tension, structure, length and balance are just hitting their groove. Ripe, lush, ruby & floral fruits of; blackberries, blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, poached/baked strawberries, boysenberries, raspberries as it opens (1-2 hours) & blueberry notes. Incense, savory meats, dark, fruit cola, anise to black licorice, dark spice with just touch heat, clove, nutmeg, cinnamon & hints of vanillin, limestone, just moist clay & top soil, dark, rich, black earth, dry crushed rocks, soft dry herbs, saddle-wood, not quite dry tobacco, dry underbrush, leather, hints of graphite with dark, red, blue, purple flowers laid in lavender. The acidity is round just about right. The delicious ruby fruit finish is, nicely polished, well balanced, a little flatter than I like and fall into gentle spice & round, slightly tarry & dusty tannins as it takes hold on the long set.
Photos of; Tenuta Sette Ponti, Merlot fruit nearly ready to be harvested, Owner- Antonio Moretti, who took over the estate from his father in the late 1990's. As well, was charged with fraud a few years back but, believe he survived those charges & Tenuta Sette Ponti vines. — 6 years ago
Last stop on the Sette Ponti Express. This is a new wine for Moretti and I don't expect much will reach the States (only 300 cases made). 100% Sangio, produced in Chianti-neighboring Valdarno. Purity and elegance, high-toned red berries, Italian leather, dried meadow flowers. Perfect combo to a local Florentine steak. — 9 years ago
Bright gold with fine bubbles; lovely, expressive nose has a fresh-pastry quality with white flowers and mineral; palate is both full and rich and fresh and airy with citron, white fruit and stony soil notes. At Puleju in Rome. — 3 months ago

Beer from El Salvador with the same quality as Heineken, Moretti and Stella. — 9 years ago
Opened about an hour prior to service; enjoyed over the course of a couple of hours. The 2020 pours, a deep garnet color with an opaque core; medium viscosity, with light staining of the tears and some signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing and a touch volatile. There are notes of being cherry, wild brambles, red and purple flowers, varnish, and dry earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose the finish is medium+. This is a soulful if not brilliant wine that gives me Paolo Bella vibes. Drink now through 2030. — 5 months ago
