Mon Rêve

Mon Village Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2016

Calm and reserved for a 9yo Cote Rotie. Integrated well. Lacks some of the classic aromas of prototypical examples. Subtle meat and sweet pickle/caper. — 24 days ago

Bosquet des Papes

A La Gloire De Mon Grand-Père Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2022

Ruby in color with a reddish rim.

Nice nose of fresh red fruits.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with cherries, plums, light oak, chocolates, licorice, coffee, spices, tobacco leaf, light earth and herbs.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Grenache from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Elegant and nicely balanced.

The 2022 vintage was excellent, and it shows. Already drinking beautifully. Very approachable, complex and rich.

The high alcohol is already well integrated. Easy drinking right out of the bottle, and better with airtime.

Still young, and needs 5 years in the bottle to mature properly. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. Has good potential to become a 94+ point wine.

Very tasty by itself as a sipping wine or with food.

A blend of 98% Grenache with a touch of Cinsault and Clairette. Grapes from 70 year old vines were aged in large French oak barrels for 15 months. A small production of less than 8,000 bottles.

15.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$80.

Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils

Cuvée De Mon Aïeul Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2000

Used the Durand on the cork - soaked to the edge. Decanted for 2 hours.

This wine had some gaminess. Smooth. Fruit was a bit wild and overpowered by the savory flavors.

Paired well with the chicken skewers and onions. Needed complex flavors in the food to pair well.

Good but quite a bit below the Beaucastel

Le Rêve Brut Blanc De Blancs Chardonnay 2014

Crystal coloration, with hints of yellow colored deep within. Nose is actually prominent, with notes of tart stonefuit, specifically peach, African cucumber, and sharp acidity despite the age. Palate doesn’t show any age or loss of acidic zing! Fresh and dry, with a long tingle that lasts long after the sip. Bought on our honeymoon, tasted and purchased on site, and popped to celebrate the birth of our first child. — 7 months ago
