Trying this again. Has classy 60’s vibes in the label design. Smells nice. Red berry and orange peel. Yeah still love the flavors. Fleshy with blood orange, cherry and woodsy stuff. Balance and fresh. Lovely complexity for a lighter color and bit less brooding type of Frenchie. — 2 years ago
Solid Beaujolais — 2 years ago
2019 vintage. "Grand Cras" is one of the 6 subzones ("climats") in Morgon, the second biggest Beaujolais cru. Juicy cherry fruit and good structure of soft tannin. Drinking very well now, but should age well for a few years. Great value at 7 euros. Mommessin is part of the Boisset empire, and Jean-Charles Boisset is definitely focusing on quality. — 3 years ago
Medium ruby in color; cherries, baking spices, and smoke on the nose; medium plus acidity; medium plus tannins; tastes like pomegranates, black cherries, and crushed gravel with a long finish. — 5 months ago
Moulin-à-Vent AOC extends from the town of Romaneche-Thorins to Chenas. Ruby color with aromas of dark berry fruit with notes of sweet spice and floral notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry and currants with licorice, floral, spice and earthy notes. Fine dusty tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit, spice and mineral character. — a year ago

Delectable Wine

The 2006 Clos de Tart was one of the better wines from Sylvain Pitiot's era. It has evolved a little since my last tasting in 2018. The broody black fruit on the nose still oddly harks toward Bordeaux. It's not as tight-fisted as before. The palate is structured with a lot of substance; what it lacks in elegance, it compensates with sheer bravura. Perhaps it just lacks the precision on the finish to compel you back for another sip. This wine is for those who seek Burgundy Grand Cru with body. (Neal Martin, Vinous, June 2024)
