Riserva Salice Salentino Negroamaro 2021

Well this bottle cost me a Nickel as it was my Birthday Wine bottle from Total wine. For this price, this is pretty good. Actually, even for the retail price of $15 it’s pretty good. Red fruit, leaves, wet stones, stewed fruits, nice body and acidity. Medium finish. — 4 months ago

Marchese di Borgosole

Rosato Puglia Rosé Blend

Marchese di Borgosole — Rosato Puglia Rosé Blend 2024, Puglia IGT — Italy 🇮🇹

Overview:
A southern Italian rosé crafted from a local blend of indigenous grapes (not available into, but typically in Puglia rosé style draws from Negroamaro, Primitivo, or even Sangiovese. The 2024 vintage leans drier and more restrained, shifting focus from fruit to freshness and balance.

Aromas & Flavors:
Subtle notes of strawberry, raspberry, and watermelon, with lighter fruit intensity than the 2023 (also reviewed). Delicate floral hints and a touch of citrus bring lift and clarity, giving it a more refined and less fruit-driven profile.

Mouthfeel:
Light to medium-bodied with crisp acidity. Noticeably drier, cleaner, and more linear than the prior vintage, with a refreshing finish that carries a subtle savory edge.

Food Pairings:
White pizza, cheese-based dishes, antipasti, grilled vegetables, and light Mediterranean fare. Excellent as an aperitivo, but truly shines alongside creamy and savory flavors.

Verdict:
A more composed and food-friendly evolution of this rosé. Less fruit-forward, more balanced and dry, making it the more versatile and compelling vintage.

Did You Know?
In southern Italy, rosés are often designed to handle warm climates and food pairings, which is why many lean toward a drier, more savory finish rather than overt fruitiness.

🍷 Personal Pick Insight:
The v.2024 takes the edge, less fruit, more structure, and significantly better with food. And if adventurous, a white pizza pairing? Spot on!

I got impatient and opened my birthday wine 2 days early. Who wants to celebrate on a Monday, anyway?
This wine was made a year before I was. What a bottle! I felt like I was opening a pirate's treasure. There are 2 leather straps wrapping around the bottle that are stapled to the cork under a TON of wax. There's also a handy birthday candle attached to the bottle, being held in a cute little metal thing. Wax and leather straps- what kind of birthday is this?? Cork came out beautifully with the ah so.
The color is an awesome deep tawny brown, like a jug of sun tea that mom put out in the backyard.
First whiff: grandma's basement. It smells its age. Earthy and medicinal, too.
First taste: tart cherry pie! Cherries, dough, rosemary. Second wave shows a bit of mint and mushroom. Plenty acidic from start to finish, but the tannins are almost fully dissipated. The wine finishes like a sip of tomato soup with herbs in it.
This was a super fun experience, and one that paid off. I'll wager this was superb 5-7 years ago. I wish I could post more photos of the bottle and the wine; it's got a lot of character. Cheers, my friends!

Tenuta Tignanello Riserva Chianti Classico Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Tenuta Tignanello ‘Marchese Antinori’ Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2017: Medium-body. Great balance. Nice acidity. Beautiful deep ruby red color. Full aromas of cherry, vanilla & spice and palate flavors of red fruits, plum, blackberry, dried herbs, chocolate, vanilla & soft oak. Fine integrated tannins help to produce a long silky finish. For me, this was a gorgeous Chianti Classico wine and definitely one that is ready to drink & enjoy right now. I’d call it a young Tignanello or Tignanello’s little brother. Go give it a try! Apparently I had this a few years ago. I still find it a delight. Toothsome, if wine is allowed to have that descriptor. Balsamic and not-sweet blackberry/fig jam. Enough weight and enough acid to keep it spritely. Omg love a good Lambrusco. It’s just the thing you need to bring some pizzazz without platitude sometimes. — 2 years ago

Tenuta Montenisa Donna Cora Satèn Chardonnay 2012

— 7 years ago
