Bourgogne Blanc Chardonnay 2016

From one of the relatively unknown and elite producers in Burgundy and a close friend of the illustrious Jean François Coche’s son, Raphael. Even this Bourgogne Blanc comes from old vines in Meursault which clearly evident in the wine. Vibrant energy and acidity intertwines with lemon curd, hazelnuts, a pixelated minerality and a striking intensity. Maybe lacking the depth and length of premier cru burgs, but what a tremendous entry level Bourgogne this is and a true over performer. — a day ago

Bourgogne Gamay 2018

Raspberry and black cherry on the nose. Black current (Ribena) dominates for me on the palette along with wood smoke and tobacco. Less than medium tannin here. I'd love to serve this with canapes, and I think the acidity here will pull out new flavors when paired with different cheeses and pates. It's a year to the day that we toured some wineries in Burgundy and had a memorable dinner in Auxerre pairing local wines with the local cuisine. Escargots! Our nine and eleven year old girls also pushed their culinary limits that night and ordered adventurously off the board. Great memories. — 10 hours ago

Chinon Blanc Chenin Blanc 2018

Beautiful apple cider color.

Straight up mangoes. Pineapples. An effervescence in the nose that cannot be pinpointed. Almost like the spindrift of a cresting wave colored sweet with bee pollen and honey.

Honeyed lavender, citrus peel. This is a Chenin Blanc I’d bring to the beach in the heat, toss a football around, and introduce the bros to a wine that could rival, I hate to say it, a mango white claw. I mean it’s a great picnic wine, too. Or a cheese wine. But convincing bros to drink a Chenin Blanc is a challenge I will accept any day. Now if only I could get to a beach without having to wear a face mask.

It’s a bit on the sweeter side without the bubbles to round it out, but the tropical fruit notes are killer enough to hit the 9s.

Style bordelais. Beaucoup de classe. Bouche ample et complexe, avec des fruits noirs, du graphite, du cuir, du cèdre. Les tanins sont plutôt fondus. Bonne longueur. Beaucoup de plaisir avec cette bouteille. Aucune presse pour les autres qui dorment. — 11 days ago

Clos Saint Jacques Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2014

Aromas of cherry candy, berries and forest floor. The green and tart flavors have disappeared with bottle age. 2014 CSJ from Jadot has gained complexity and depth showing rounder fruit flavors. In the mouth you get layers of blackberries and sweet raspberry. I like the silky, smooth texture, heavy berry flavor and the extremely long finish. Tasted 7/9/20 — 2 days ago
