Lore Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Day 24 of the 2022 Whisky Advent Calendar. Very smoky at first but with a caramel depth coming through. Intensely peaty with a cocoa and mint layer under it and lots of spices. Toasty nutty finish. — 3 years ago

Calistoga Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

My curiosity got this best of me on this. Nice nose right off the jump and only needed about 30 minutes of air to open up. Red fruit dominant and a bit thin on the finish at this stage. A nice bottle, but a couple notches below the Lore and Lamb, and I prefer the Panek as well. — 6 years ago

Shifflett Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Way too much wax! But great Mag other than that. Glad I held it longer than my first bottle. Much better than the Proprietary blend.
Great finish as it opens up, definitely reminds me of Rivers Marie Lore & Herb Lamb
Wish I had bought more, 16 no where to be found now

Thanks @William J. Segui it was David who actually told me about your wines and convinced me to give them a try. But the offer still stands 😴🐠

True Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Very drinkable early, just not as distinctive as the 16 Myriad Elysian & Empyrean and Rivers Marie Lore & Herb Lamb. — 7 years ago

Côte Brune Cuvée Réservée Côte-Rôtie Syrah 1991

Cellared since original release by wine benefactor. Lore has it Pacific Wine Company used to buy from G-D direct and bottle under their own label. Be on the lookout. Fantastic aromatics, a touch of Brett with some air, and gorgeous elegance, finesse. — 8 years ago

Baden Spätburgunder Rosé 2021

Learned helplessness. Man 12%. And 20$ or so. I just can’t help it - this is the best Rosé ever. Unfiltered. This was really shaken not stirred when I traveled about town before it was popped. Tart, rhubarb gal-lore!!! Lemon. Typically I hate Rosé’s which often taste like nothing / this ain’t it. — 3 months ago

Lore Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Been a few years since I’ve enjoyed a Lore, but this did not disappoint. Big blue/black fruits but very approachable by itself. Fantastic bottle! — 4 years ago

Agreed, @Paul T- Huntington Beach. Haven’t opened one or the Herb Lamb’s I have yet, but am expecting great things from that bottling as well.

Wonderful Lore @stellabellawines ~ and a ridiculous value of a #wine!
Honeysuckle & acacia blossom, green tomato, peach & apricot, leans apple pie then switches back with a saline smack!

Reserve St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Last 2013,
Personally I prefer the 15 & 16 Lore from Rivers Marie especially at $75.00 less per bottle. TRB is the wine maker for both.

The 14 regular cab is just a step behind. The 15 regular cab is worth looking at. IMO. Reminds me of the Sinegal Estate regular Cab vs the Reserve.

Sky Vineyards

Estate Bottled Mt. Veeder Zinfandel

Gorgeous, medium-bodied Zinfandel from some of the most remote vineyards in all of Napa, gown organically on Mt. Veeder’s volcanic soils, at 2,100 ft. altitude, and made by California cult producer Lore Olds - Bob Travers’ assistant winemaker at Mayacamas back in the 1970s. Earthy, mineral and balanced. Blackberry, peppery smokiness, hints of nail polish or marker — 6 years ago

Cameron Hughes

Lot 60 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Just concluded our annual Fall seclusion at our cabin in the Rangeley lakes region of Maine, mobile service up there is mostly non-existent, after several days I am posting again. Notes are somewhat brief, as my focus is relaxing and watching the Common Loons swimming and diving in the cove in front of our camp.

Nose has dusty cherry, plum skin, red/green pepper mash, dry crushed slate, some raspberry but trending more to vegetal aspects.
Palate has ripe plum, ripe raspberry, some blueberry, dried blackberry, neutral (light) oak influence with almost fully resolved tannins.
The lore of Cameron Hughes wines is hard to confirm, supposedly this Lot is from the NV Stag's Leap District, but like most of these wines they are clouded in some mystery as to their exact origins, which was the intent of the winemaker. What I can confirm, this wine was much better 10 years ago than today. An interesting experience.
