You couldn’t ask for nicer, more engaged estate owners and their reserve Cab is equally engaging. Gobs of pure dark fruit, round full edges, chocolate covered sweet fig. Still brooding a bit after 3 hours. Optimum drinking ahead.

On the nose, still showing dark currants but, the fruits are starting to shine. Creamy fruits of; black plum, plum, blackberries, dark cherries, poached strawberries, dark chocolate, mocha bar, vanilla, cinnamon, light clove, soft dark spice, limestone minerals, crush dry rock powder, sweet tarry notes, expression roast with dark dry & fresh floral bouquet.

The palate is much rounder & integrated from a year ago. The tannins are powdery & dusty. The body is still very full. The structure, tension, length and balance are knitting together nicely. Creamy fruits of; black plum, plum, blackberries, dark cherries, poached strawberries, dark chocolate, mocha bar, vanilla, cinnamon, light clove, soft dark spice, limestone minerals, crush dry rock powder, dry stones, dry stems, sweet tarry notes, expression roast with dark dry & fresh floral bouquet. The acidity is lively. The finish is beautiful but still more earth & spice dominated than fruit. Yet, it is evolving to being more even. It’s just starting to evolve into the wine I thought it will become with a beautiful finish that goes on and on.

Photos of, more guests at the party enjoying themselves, chicken sliders with aioli, view of the Estate vines and Napa Valley floor from their house and the awesome Latin ensemble that performed.

Last 2013,
Personally I prefer the 15 & 16 Lore from Rivers Marie especially at $75.00 less per bottle. TRB is the wine maker for both.

Its beem almost year since I had this 13, still too soon. Seems shutdown like many 13’s
5 more years at least, its like opening a new Shafer or Scarecrow, so its a great wine in need of long cellaring

Off the truck,
Have 3 bottles so I needed to see what I should do with other the other 2, definitely keepers Give it 4 hours or multiple years.
Thomas Rivers Brown is the winemaker,
Thanks
@David T for the recco,
This one & the Greer are more in line with Shafer & Pritchard hill wines that are in need of 10 years,
Interesting note is that these grapes were going to Harlan Estate before the new owners decided to keep the fruit for their wine.
Located on western slopes that face east🤔? So they cool sooner than western exposed hillsides which factors into acid development, all according to Napawineproject.com
