Superb Riesling from the Zotzenberg grand cru in Mittelbergheim (Bas Rhin/Lower Rhine), about 25 km south of Strasbourg. Clean, precise nose with notes of rubber and floral hints. Light, fresh, zesty acidity. Citrus (lemon) flavors. Good length — 5 years ago

Vintage2015 / what a seductive smell... even so young... most merlot, cabernet sauvignon... clay and limestone soil... 50 km away north of the city of Bordeaux. Pierre Ardoin is an oenologist at the University. Seductive red fruits in smell. An impression of plums. Vibrant and velvety taste. No need to cellar 😉 when the wine is so good at the moment. #blaye #bordeaux Tasted with a pasta porcini. Good combination. — 8 years ago
Nice crisp, dry white (Gavi) at Gusto 101 in Toronto — 8 years ago
After some 2300 km in the trunk of my car, this is now served (after a much deserved 3 weeks rest in my cellar) at cellar temperature (about 16°C). I'm of course biased but man, this is good for the €€€.
The nose is violet, red forest fruits and that irony thing which might well be a terroir thing (the soil they grew their vines upon are reddish which tells me they could well be full of iron). The palate is well balanced, with a good acid backbone but some matter too and I see some evolution in the way this wine is made as earlier vintages were much thiner and acid driven and here there's acid, yes, but there is sufficient matter and a very nice mouthfeel, and fruit all along to balance it perfectly. Some lively tannins, kicking things up a notch and a rather long finish with fruits, that irony thing and a bit of bitterness which is very much a varietal thing. I love it, but I'm biased 🙃. — 5 years ago

Meaningful bottle of wine. This was a gift to me from the 70th anniversary of D-Day. I’d like to thank the French Foreign Legion for making the wine. I enjoyed airdropping the French Foreign Legion and the 101 Airborne Devision from the U.S. on the 70th anniversary of D-Day. We are 75 years out now and I would love to commemorate the brave souls that took part on the D-Day invasion. God Bless you all. You are true heroes. 75 years out I commend the greatest generation. — 7 years ago

Very nice Cab franc blend (plus 46% Merlot 4% Cab Saug) from JR mystery 101 mixed vintages. Dark fruits blueberries herbs and no green overtones but grippy but balanced texture and finish to complement somewhat spicy sausages with tomatoes and pasta. 281 cases. — 5 years ago

Savennieres of Burgundy. Alice & Olivier making fantastic Chardonnay just outside of Chablis.
So vivid and fresh, wonderfully long tangy lemon and savory (almost curried) finish. This is balanced of fruit and sotolon 101.
Ripe pear and nutty slightly oxidative notes crescendo cohesively. — 6 years ago
Good, stable, entry level Pinot from an amazing winery.
This is like a Pinot 101. A good beginners look into what a classic Oregon Pinot tastes like at this price point. Pom and cherry nose, a waft of a twig and branch. Blackberry compote, hints of warm pie. Takes an hour of air to see more fruit, tangerine acids, low tannin.
