Joshua Barossa Valley Grenache Blend 2018

Solid 9.0. #barossa valley #barossavalley blend of #gsm #grenache, #shiraz and #mataro or #garnacha #syrah and #monastrell #mourvedre Deep deep color typically ripe (low latitude=intense sunlight) medium (+) aromas of red and black fruit, hints of ink, chocolate and toast. On the one would expect, ripe and juicy. Maintains a lovely balance between the ripeness and juicy sweetness of the fruit, the medium acidity and the high alcohol (hardly noticeable) and ripe tannins. Good stuff. Reminds me of my wines from Campo de Borja. #australia #southaustralia — 3 months ago

Napa Valley Chardonnay 2017

If you aren’t familiar with Brasswood, you should change that. A truly state of the art custom crush facility in St Helena (has housed clients like Bevan Cellars, Moone Tsai, Montagu, Modus Operandi, Dark Matter, etc), with tasting rooms, caves, a shop, bakery and a fantastic restaurant. On top of all that, they have their own label, which Angelina Mondavi consults on.

This is my first time trying their Chardonnay offering, courtesy of Brasswood’s Somm
@Joshua Fisher . I was fortunate to follow this over the course of a few days. Day one had this showing very primary...down the middle type chard. Day two saw this increase in complexity...certainly true to Napa chard with a warm and soft profile, revealing lanolin, lemon cream, and even a cotton candy note on the nose. The palate has added notes of ripe melon, banana, and powdered sugar. Viscous but a line of acidity keeps this nervy. Thanks Josh.

Ray-Monde Vineyard Pinot Noir 2019

Looking for balance, but a beauty
Cherry, cloves, tar, rose petals and balsamic
Present tannin, but of great quality
I have another bottle which I will try to put away for at list 3 to 5 years
Blindly I would have called nebbiolo no doubt
At this stage it requests food to fully enjoy it.

Doug's Vineyard-Romsey Pinot Noir 2018

Wow, this is a big pinot with a marvellous tannin.
Bright and quiet vibrant.
There's leather, cinnamon, forest floor, musk.
White pepper, very floral, a blueberry with raspberries around. The green balsamic side is a delicate Thai mint rather than a straightforward eucalyptus. Tobacco leaves and more notes given by the very present oak component.
I trust this wine will find a better harmony on the sweet side in a while, perhaps when the tannin will soften.
However this is very different vest from the 19s and the 17s., more complex already and even though I believe this wine will age gracefully for a bit I find it already on a secondary stage compared to the formers. I am very fascinated, it reminded of a Vosne from Dom. Laurent.
Long after taste, excellent!

If you haven't tried it yet I highly recommend it. To me he is in that little group of great young producer like Sami-Odi or Lucy Margaux. Plenty of character and flavour. 🙏
