Colson Canyon Vineyard Syrah 2023

2023 vintage. From Coravin. Syrah for Cabernet drinkers. Massive, smooth body and currently without any of the quirky, bretty Syrah flavors that can pull a full frontal assault on the palate. Delicious. Would love to taste in a decade to see what weightiness has left the building and how it has been replaced by the wine nature abhors a vacuum flavors. 10.23.24. — 2 months ago

Timeless Soda Canyon Ranch Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

New vintage coming out in 6 weeks! 2018 is a stunner. Supple, dark, refined tannin. Can’t wait to see it evolve over the years. — 3 years ago

El Padrino De La Cuadrilla Ballard Canyon Syrah Blend 2019

Had in a 1.5 liter bottle. Silky red and black fruits with fine, yet persistent tannin. Hints of olives and stones framed with plush fruit. May not live twenty years, but I'm definitely curious to see it in 5-10 — 4 years ago

El Desafio de Jonata Ballard Canyon Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

2017 vintage. No surprise that this is the best Ballard Canyon/SYV cab I've ever had. What is a surprise is that this is the best newer vintage California cab I've had this year. Throw this into your big gun Napa cab blind tasting and see where it ranks. May hafta reevaluate the California cab hierarchy. — 3 years ago

Jericho Canyon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2001

I wish I still had some of these 01 Jerichos. This wine tastes like Mouton Rothschild in a great year. One of the best 01 Cabs. I want to try this wine now to see how it’s holding up and how it’s developed. This was when I noticed the alcohol levels getting higher on Cabs but no hotness or alcohol flavors here. This has it all. the layers of complexity, the creme de cassis, lead pencil and perfectly ripened dark fruit. Very well balanced and fun to drink. — 4 years ago

These 01 and 02 Nericho Canyon bottles were legendary. If you can track some down I would recommend purchasing them. Cheers. 🙏🏼

@Eric even the off vintage Jericho canyon Rudd bottles. 2000, 98 are probably hard to find but great Cabs.

Peachy Canyon

Westside Paso Robles Zinfandel 2019

One of my favorite wineries when I lived on the Central Coast. Purple red, moderate pigment extraction, excellent clarity for a red. Black olive and raspberry aromas, blackberry and olive flavors with a hint of eucalyptus. Nice undercurrent of lightly chewy tannins. Balanced and tasty “old school” Zin. Boysenberry flavor notes emerge after 45 minutes, tannins remain inoffensive but not fully resolved - polymerized or oxidized. Would this wine improve with decanting? 24 hours later, mouthfeel is rounded, black plum flavors have pushed to the forefront. Decant 3-6 hours and see for yourself. Nice Zin, great value! — 2 years ago

Shadow Canyon Vineyard Syrah 2013

Dark inky in color with a purplish rim.

Full bodied with medium acidity.

Showing black fruits with oak, light vanilla, dark chocolates, coffee, light barnyard, tar, peppercorn, light earth, light vegetables and herbs.

Long spicy finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Syrah from the Central Coast in California. Smooth and easy drinking with a nice mouthfeel.

Drinking very nicely now, and will be nice to revisit in 3 years, and see how it evolves.

This Single Vineyard is Good by itself as a sipping wine. Fruit forward with nice complexity. Rich and intense. Delicious.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after 45 minutes of airtime.

100% Syrah grapes aged in French oak barrels (50% new).

15.2% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$90.
