This is a gorgeous 15 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley.
Full bodied with medium acidity.
Dry and very fruity on the palate with nice complexity and a soft mouthfeel.
Showing black fruits with cedar, vanilla, leather, spices, earth, chocolates, tobacco, coffee and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.
Showing great complexity on the nose and palate.
Peaking now and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.
Good right out of the bottle and good by itself. Will pair nicely with a big piece of steak.
13.9% alcohol by volume.
94 points.

For Pinot, the best I had so far — 17 days ago
Full-bodied. Dark fruit. The very end of the finish was mildly acidic. I think this would be even better after breathing a bit. Good stuff. — 2 months ago
April 2024. Full bodied, not heavy. Tastes of oak, like young Bordeaux. Needs a 60 minute decant. After a week with Coravin, more cherry, no oak. — 20 days ago

Last time we had this was nearly 4 years ago - the age has been good to this, but no need to wait much longer in my view. Has that lovely ethereal quality on the palate. Quite restrained but so delicious. Wonderful pairing with roast chicken with mushrooms. Lighter bodied but all there. Really nice burg - one that is just hard to stop drinking. — 3 months ago

Still a very dense crimson with no tawny rim, at 28 years of age but the tawniness is beginning. A certain feral, Animale, earthy note. Palate is ultra smooth, medium bodied / very savoury yet with a sweetish earthy note with a hint of raspberry. Jancis Robinson was invited by Stephen Henschke to a vertical tasting at the winery in May 2013 to cover vintages back to the late 1950’s. She described the 1996 as “pure hedonism “ and gave it 19/20. Medium plus intensity on the delicious palate with those gnarled old 160 year vines showing through. An absolutely stunning wine - one of the best we’ve had this year. — 14 days ago
