High quality non-German dry Riesling. Classic profile, with hints of lime and slate. Quite refined. If this ages well, it may merit an even higher score. — 7 years ago

This was a great wine and a great setting as well. — 10 years ago
Big bold and delicious. Dark red hue with pepper on the nose and American oak. Long and lush. Still has a bit of tannic grip on he finish and can go many more years. Reminds me a Jordan cabernet just bolder. Thanks Gary Westby for hooking me up with this many moons ago. — 10 years ago
Had the 2011 vintage. Bought in 2015 trip. Plums and dusty taste. Tannins come through at end — 11 years ago

@Delectable Wine this is the 2015 Jordan Cape Winemakers Guild Sophia.
Our first time every at the Cape Winemakers Guild Auction and we will make sure to come back! (Tasting was on 9/28/18).
Twentieth wine at the Friday Auction Tasting for the Cape Winemakers Guild and the ninth red wine. This is made up of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot by Gary Jordan from the Stellenbosch region. Aged for a total of 24 months in 85% new French oak barrels prior to bottling. Only 69 cases produced with 44 being auctioned in 2018.
Dark garnet red with a touch of ruby. A bit dirty on the nose with leather, baking spices and dark cherries. Needs a bit of time to open up on the nose. Medium plus tannins (7/10) and medium plus body. Gritty on the palate with some earthiness, cinnamon and dark berries. Long finish. Drink till 2028.
$$$ - Tasted at the Cape Winemakers Auction. Average bid at auction was R6,086.00 ($71.59 a bottle) a case. Highest bid was R6,600.00 ($77.63 a bottle) and lowest bid was R5,800.00 ($68.22 a bottle).

Just like a Cape Chameleon this @Jordan_Wines transforms from vegetal into cocoa, cassis & cedar notes #CAPESomm — 10 years ago
Quite deep colour with an almost orange tinge. Bouquet is quite musky, again with orange notes. A smooth and luxuriously thick mouthfeel but needs to be well chilled to prevent that becoming flabby. A lip-smacking lemon meringue and orange / cointreau flavour. A very good value everyday drinking wine. — 11 years ago
