Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir 2015

Second label from the Jonata house. Dark fruit aromas (blackberry, currents) with notes of wet leaves, black licorice and tobacco. Pallet is big and round, but the tannins are very soft. Luscious and ripe black fruit flavors. Earthy finish, which is a touch on the short side. Easy drinker that is nicely balanced. Good stuff! — 3 months ago

Todos Santa Ynez Valley Syrah Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

A blend of 47% Syrah, 28% Cab Sauv and adding Cab Franc, Sangiovese, Viognier, Petit Verdot & Metlot. Deep Ruby with complex aromas of dark fruit, spice, almonds and wet earth. On the palate blackberry, currant and raspberry flavors, soft tannins on a long finish ending with leather, pepper and oak tones. Very Nice, a beauty. — 5 months ago

Santa Ynez Valley Red Blend 2015

Bordeaux Blend from the same team that offers Jonata Wines. Dark purple color. Aromas of black currant and blackberry along with pencil shavings, dried herbs and a hint of violets. Earthy tobacco and black fruit flavors with a hint of cola. Luscious with big chewy tannins and long earthy finish. Bold, but this wine still has some finesse. Needs a decant. — 3 months ago

Fenix Santa Ynez Valley Merlot Blend 2014

A win-win today. Stunning Merlot and fantastic first attempt at making sourdough from scratch. The Fenix presents with a plush mouthfeel. Deep dark hue. Dark cherries, boysenberries, and a hint of coffee on the palate. I let this one open up over a couple hours and was rewarded. Drinking wonderfully right now, and could improve with a couple more years in the bottle. Superb. — 2 months ago

Tierra Santa Ynez Valley Sangiovese

Garnet colored. Smoked meats and pine resin on the nose. A bit green on the initial palate giving way to sweeter notes of cassis, tobacco and black pepper. Tannins are still quite prominent. Good but a little disjointed. — 9 months ago
