Escalada do Sil (Valdeorras) 2016

Delectable Wine

Ruby-red. A wild, intensely perfumed bouquet displays spice-accented red and dark berries, incense and smoky minerals that expand with aeration. Silky, sweet and penetrating on the palate, offering intense black raspberry, cherry-cola and spicecake flavors that show outstanding clarity and spicy lift. Hangs on with incredible tenacity on the gently tannic finish, leaving juicy red fruit and candied lavender notes behind. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, March 2019) — 6 days ago

Emilio Hidalgo

Oloroso Gobernador Jerez-Xérès-Sherry Palomino Fino

Pale brown with medium+ intensity aromas of nutty, caramel and coffee. The aromas carry through to the palate adding toasty walnut flavors on a long finish. Very good, drink now no bottle benefit. Tasting Sample. — 22 days ago

Viña AB 12 Años Amontillado Jerez-Xérès-Sherry Palomino Fino 1835

From my vault of opinions, Sherries over-perform for credit due. This Amontillado is considered entry but it’s definitely not basic. It sits halfway between Fino and Ollorosso in structure and since its unfortified, it’s pleasantly light.

Spiced orange and salty caramel apple with honeyed notes on the fringe.
