Fortnum & Mason

30 Years Old Amontillado VORS Sherry White Blend

There are worse ways to travel than with Sherry and Oysters at the Fortnum and Mason counter in Heathrow.

The wine was like the ambiance: comfortable, sleek, and stylish, but also a little rushed and, curiously, it felt, in transit. Still, worse ways to unwind a an airport after a long day.

Viejisimo Toneles Jerez-Xérès-Sherry Moscatel

Quite possibly the best wine I have ever had. Dark, viscous and fantastic in the glass. A wonderful nose with dates, orange, chocolate and wood polish. Figs, orange, chocolate and cashews on the palate with a finish that never ends. — 11 days ago

Vinos Viejos Amontillado Napoleon 30 years Jerez-Xérès-Sherry Palomino Fino

Amontillado based on Manzanilla. Alc 18%. pH 3,2. TA 5g/l. Sugars 0,5g/l. VA 5,0 g/l. Dark gold/amber color. Citrus, peach, hazelnut, toasted. Very elegant. But little bit simple. Fresh, powerful, with good body and good acidity, long finish. — 14 days ago

Jarana Fino Solera Reserve Sherry Palomino Fino

Wonderful aperitif. Light amber color. Tons of hazelnuts, almond, soy sauce, saline on the nose. Medium oxidized. Salty oyster shell and saline on the palate mixed with nuts. Nice acidity. Craving for seafood, especially crabs. Medium+ finish. 15% alc — 14 days ago

This is great oloroso. Incredible depth and warmth paired with freshness and clarity. Insert all (and I mean *all*) the typical oloroso flavor notes, precise, specific and compelling. I mean, damn. — 20 days ago

Fantastic balance and long marvelous finish but aroma is too straightforward. You usually expect more from so old wines. — 14 days ago

Equipo Navazos

Nº 41 Jerez-Xérès-Sherry La Bota de Palo Cortado Palomino Fino

What an interesting wine! It rounded off a wonderful evening with dear friends at Rouge Tomate in Chelsea, NYC, where the service was as excellent as always. This sherry was made from a famed solera called "GF30" that apparently dated back to the 1940s. Such complexity and intensity. Orange peel, toast, walnuts, salinity, and so much more. A real treat. — 2 months ago
