JCB Napa Valley Red Blend

Wine 4 of the night. This mostly cab blend was well done. Loads of up front berries and dark fruits. Nice balance of tannins and length. This wine should age well. I'd look for this at a retailer and try it again with a couple of years in the bottle — 18 days ago

Passion Cabernet Sauvignon Blend

Outstanding wine. Dark fruit and licorice. Think Caymus... maybe better? — a month ago

No. 69 Burgundy Rosé

This crisp sparkler had lovely pops of grapefruit, wet rock and toast. The perfume was beguiling. — 5 months ago

JCB No 1 Cabernet Sauvignon

Wine 5 of the night with Jean Charles. Big bomb of a Cab. Loaded with upfront fruit and oak. This 2013 not as good as other vintages, but very drinkable. Super long through the palate and a nice finish. — 18 days ago

No. 81 Sonoma Collection Chardonnay 2016

Wine 2 of the night with JCB. My favorite wine of the night. Elegant full bodied Chardonnay with a silky texture. I found this to have a nice concentration of clean, ripe fleshy fruits. Melons, apple and pear lead to a long finish. — 18 days ago

No. 5 Côtes de Provence Pinot Noir Rosé 2016

It’s maturity has softened it in a number of lovely ways. Like a conversation that’s a cinch to fall for- bright and alive but with just a bit of the depth that makes the finish stick around. — 2 months ago

Surrealist Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Petit Verdot

Final wine of the night with our dinner hosted by Jean-Charles Boisset. Certainly a treat to experience the Surrealist first hand. This is a Cab /Petite Verdot blend with a smoky, floral opener and dominant oak. Loads of blackberry, licorice, and herbal anise. The wine drinks well with nice balance and a medium finish. Possibly it's the vintage but I wanted more. — 18 days ago

Mazis Chambertin Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2016

Again the JCB collection was impressive. This Mazis was no exception. Surprised by how well it drinks right now. Deep garnet almost black in color. Finesse and focus on the palate. Deep black cherry, root beer and figs. Slight herb and mushroom on the finish. — 5 months ago
