Te Muna Road Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2023

Lots of tropical fruit along with grapefruit. Delicious with food - reminded me of when I visited the winery nearly 20 years ago. — 4 days ago

Storybook Mountain Vineyards

Mayacamas Range Napa Estate Zinfandel 2018

Truncated dinner party notes. This ‘18 is uncommonly open and friendly for a Storybook Zin, which typically take years to unfurl. Really nice ripe flavors and perfect balance. — 3 months ago

Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Possibly one of the best Cabernet Sauvignons I have had from California in the $20 range. Depth, character, body along with a symphony of dark fruit and vanilla aromas. Add that up with some silky mild tannins makes this Paso Robles cab a definite addition to my wine rotation. — 7 months ago

Aroha Te Muna Pinot Noir 2020

The description: A complex bouquet and palate with scents and flavours of black currant and dark cherry, wild flowers and red berry fruits then a stone and mineral silty soils quality . Youthful, varietal and complex. Even on day 2 the wine has a youthful taut appeal, flavours reflect the bouquet with a youthful energy and mix of ripe and tart fruits including cherry, cranberry, plum and black currant. An abundance of fine tannins and medium+ acidity, a wine that will continue to develop over the next 3-5 years. This wine presents best on day 2 which is a strong indication that it will age well. Best drinking from 2025 through 2033+.
The opinion: This is not usually the style of Pinot noir I like, but this is very good.

Te Kahu Gimblett Gravels Vineyard Merlot Blend

Mon M
8.9

Cattail creek wine dinner. Characteristics of pencil lead, tobacco, black cherry, and liquorish. The palate has a lifted acidity and spicy tannins but don't obscure the fruit expression. Paired with petite ribeye en persillade. — 2 months ago

Cabernet Franc Merlot blend. Absolutely stunning. Layers of fruit and spice all harmoniously interwoven with soft gravelly tannin. Wow! — 4 months ago

Bollinger

La Grande Année Brut Champagne Blend 2004

Christmas lunch date at V. Mertz. Disgorged January 2013. No formal notes. Rich in style with bruised apple, brioche, honey and some nutty, oxidative notes too. Zippy acid still. A truly wonderful way to close out the meal. — 2 years ago
