Wow! Almost no fruit notes, only a slight hint of lemon/lime and green apple. All other notes are tertiary/secondary. Wet rocks, white blossom, slate, sea spray, jalapeno, green pea. Quite simply one of the best whites I've ever had. — 5 years ago

Nose has carmel dipped strawberry, dried lemon zest, under-ripe lychee, grilled pear slice, slightly oxidized yellow apple slice and dry crushed rock.

Palate has honey drizzle over lemon slice, neutral oak, dried pineapple, pineapple core with light acidity and medium finish. A very nice wine for 2018, hitting this much too young. At $48 this is good, if you can land for under $40 it would be a way better value.

Cork pulled for a 5H slow oxidation.

Great pairing tonight with 'Georgian Chicken'; (local) chicken thighs with dry rub, seared in cast iron, then simmered/baked in a walnut/cilantro/jalapeno/tomato paste sauce, finished with pomegranate seeds & pomegranate vinegar drizzle. — 5 years ago

Terrific pinot from Greg Brewer and Steve Clifton. Absolutely love their wines after a few years in bottle, they come across as a central coast version of a premier cru burgundy. The nose screams Old World with earthy notes, but the rich palate says New World with evolving layers of red berry flavors, all supported by enough acidity to keep the wine alive. Awesome pairing with Vanessa’s poached chicken with a tomatillo and jalapeno salsa on a bed of steamed spinach with onion and bell pepper. In short, life is great! 😊 — 7 years ago

The wine I have opened is the 2021 Goose Island South Island Sauvignon Blanc. From Upper Moutre, New Zealand.

On the nose there is lime, grapefruit, tangerine, gooseberry, honeydew melon, grass, herbal notes and minerality.

On the palate is grapefruit, white peach, lime, jalapeno, herbaceousness and flintiness.

This wine is light to medium bodied with a fresh clean mouthfeel medium + acidity that leaves you with a long citrus mineral finish. Regular Txakoli except better. Weightier. Spicier. Herbaceous. The kind you'd responsibly save for a wine glass (vs. Porron). Maybe you let this warm a bit? You could. You should. I waited years to drink this Malbec and it did not disappoint. I finally enjoyed it on Thanksgiving. Deep ruby color,

Nose was Bell Pepper, jalapeno, white pepper, cantaloupe, pear, peaches, pineapple, minerality - though subdued. Taste was dry white peach, Wet stone, salinity, white pepper and jalapeno. How balanced was this wine? Getting close to setting the bar. This is a phenomenal white. Just a hint of juicy fruit, transitioning into salty salinity and stone, and a complexity - left like a puzzling hint in a scavenger hunt that eventually leads to the next sip, where I'm still standing... Searching. Haunting is an overused adjective, but here it is so apt as to beg forgiveness while usurping it from all other imbibements. — 8 years ago
