Enjoyed it immensely with our grilled ribeye steak! Perfect pairing. The steak elevates the wine significantly. Dark fruit with fully integrated smooth tannins in this 10 year old wine. It has this green pea, olive note to it that I presume comes from the Carmenere that I personally don’t care for too much. Very balanced, very present, smooth finish, decent complexity. — a year ago

Soft. My comparison with the Chilean carmenere is prob unfair given this is 30% Merlot. But it still has that distinctive carmenere taste. Nice fruit. Soft sandy tannins. The Merlot softens this. Very nice wine. — 4 months ago

Compost on the nose, although we just opened this 6 year old bottle. So, ok. Truth time. We've had carmenere wines before and thought they were oddly flavored, off balanced, and overall not so great. Whew! Got that off my chest. This wine shows some real promise. Fully flavored with lovely red fruits, smooth tannins and silky finish. We enjoyed this and am sure it will open up. — 4 years ago

42% Syrah, 39% Carmenere, 6% Cab Sauv, 5%Garnacha, 3% Malbec, 3% Carignan, 1% Tempranillo and 1% Mourvèdre. Truly a field blend wine.
Ripe blueberries, blackberries and cherries on the nose with a hint of earth.
This wine is so smooth. Flavours of plums, dark fruit, fig and a hint of smokiness. Smooth tannins and a long finish. Put anything on the grill and enjoy this. — 5 years ago

No formal notes . Quite pale lemon yellow . This is quite ripely fruited , with touch of apricot , spiced lemon peel , pineapple , white peach . On the palate this has good freshness and slightly creamy texture . White peach and citrus peel with white almonds , good acidity . Reasonable length , grippy slightly toasty finish . Enjoy now and over the next 5 years . Quite modern and international in style , but well made and convincing.

I much prefer the basic Casa Silva #Carmenere over this one. This is deep in color and ripe on the nose and palate, but it has gone too far into wanting to be super silky and super ripe. It has lost the texture and the terroir for me. I also don’t like the milky, creamy diacetyl/lactic finish. Good but not great. #chile #colchagua #colchaguavalley #cordillera — 6 years ago
