Finger Lakes Dry Riesling 2017

One of my top Finger Lakes Riesling’s!

Nice balance of sweetness and tartness. Paired well with shrimp cocktail and cheese.

Could use a little more “umph”, but was very elegant nonetheless.

Extra Brut Méthode Champenoise Riesling 2015

Quick afternoon bottle(s) with friends.

Prior notes apply, but this was a much better bottle than our last one.

Reserve Dry Riesling 2012

Truly the star of the entire day. I legit got tears in my eyes because this Riesling was so beautiful. Bruised yellow apple, singed lemon peel, ginger, wilting jasmine, thyme, petrol, and a tiny bit of peach are woven together by juicy acidity and a lush mouthfeel. Aromatic, mineral, complex, and balanced. I got a bottle to bring home, obviously. — 5 months ago

Finger Lakes Cabernet Franc 2017

On this Sunday night I have opened the 2017 Hermann J. Wiemer Cabernet Franc from Seneca Lake of the Finger Lakes in New York.

On the nose I get the red fruits of strawberry, raspberry sauce, cherry, roasted jalapeño, herbs, a vegetable note, smoaky oak and graphite.

On the palate there is cherry, raspberry, red currant, green bell pepper, mint, spice, herbs and minerality.

This wine is full bodied with medium + acidity and medium + sandy grippy tannins that leads into a long red fruit finish. I wish everyone a wonderful week ahead and a safe and prosperous one. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Standing Stone Vineyards

Finger Lakes Chardonnay 2017

Fresh, bright Chardonnay from one of the oldest vineyards in the Finger Lakes, an 8-acre plot on the Eastern slopes of Seneca Lake planted in 1974 and recently acquired by Hermann J. Wiemer, the region’s top Riesling producer. Amazing find! — a month ago

Noble Select Josef Vineyard Riesling 2009

Got directly from their library cellar. Strong pear and honey nose. 34.5% rs by weight. Mouth coating sweetness balanced by mature acidity. Very pure fruity wine on the palate, yet still have crashed stone-like minerality. Beautiful treat. — 4 months ago

Definitely one of the best Rieslings I’ve ever experienced, if not the best, to be fair with all other decent rieslings I poured into my mouth. Came to visit Hermann J Weimer with my friends in Ithaca and they treated me with this fancy Riesling from the library cellar. I’ve had many bottles of their Josef Rieslings from different years including the single select ones and they’ve never failed to impress me. To me the Josef Rieslings set a bar and separate them from all other good Rieslings I had. Man, let me tell you this, this 2009 bottle of noble select Josef Rieslings is on the next level, starting from the beautiful nose of honey and peach, it brings balance of natural sweetness and acidity, mixed with lovely aromas. I can drink this all day if there are many bottles in my collection.

Finger Lakes Dry Gewürztraminer 2006

As I said, I hate Gewurz but I just can’t deny that this is a good wine. With 13 years of age, it becomes even better. Like kind of insanely good. I don’t even know myself anymore. — 5 months ago
