WOTN for me at the La Sirena wine dinner. Heidi Barrett’s daughter, Remy, offered a lively conversation about her mom and the wines. We tried the ‘14, 15, and 2016 of the B&B and ‘15 was by far my favorite. Much more concentrated fruit. 2015 was a struggle vintage with little rain, hence the bolder fruit concentration. This was a much more nuanced wine IMO. Well balanced. Big wine, but everything was in balance. Stunning. @55Seventy — 4 years ago
This is a really mellow summer wine. Not quite champagne fizz but more than a tzaokilina. Worth another round — 5 years ago
I had this with an amazing bowl of ramen with a fish based broth and it was perfect. The hints of Riesling and Pinot Gris were equally awesome. A good saline quality, hint of petrol, citrus, and stone. Very well blended together. — 7 years ago

All hail, winter whites 🙌🏻🙌🏻.
An ideal pairing with a buttery, flakey, whole wheat chard, mushroom & ricotta galette. Great acid. Pear, lemon zest, butter, barely ripe white nectarine, a touch a marzipan/canided almond/candied pineapple and a pristine zing on the finish. Heidi Schrock is a master at her craft. Right now I’m loving these zingy whites (and a little RS doesn’t hurt so sue me) — 5 years ago
One of (the only?) the only whites made by Heidi Barrett, this is a really great Chardonnay. No noticeable oak, which is my personal new requirement. Slightly sweeter than I remembered but very balanced with good acidity and minerality (I don’t care if this term is falling out of favor amongst the “experts”, as it still describes how a wine feels to me!) — 6 years ago

It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!
Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.
Strong nose of black plums, black currants, coffee, cooked cherries, cedar, earth, chocolates, tobacco, spices and black pepper.
Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.
Dry on the palate with plums, cherries, currants, light cedar, earth, herbs, chocolates, light iron, spices and peppercorn.
Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a delicious 5 year old Merlot from Oakville in Napa Valley. Rich, robust and fruit forward. Elegantly powerful.
Already showing a beautiful nose, and feels like a Napa Merlot with a touch of Saint Emilion.
This Single Vineyard Merlot is one of the last vintages made by
Heidi Barrett. Still young, but very approachable even by itself.
Needs 5 years in the bottle to mature properly, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. Has good potential to become a 94 point wine
Needed a couple of hours in the decanter to open up properly, so be patient.
A great sipping wine that will also pair nicely with food.
A blend of 99% Merlot with
1% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged for 18 months in (50% new) French oak barrels. A small production of
603 cases.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
92 points.
