Really dig a spätburgunder — 4 years ago
Soft spice, very round and juicy. Pretty apple, pear and melon nuances. Hints of vanilla, butter and chalk.
Just a pinch too much alcohol in the finish.
Ah well.
Cheers anyway.

2017 Weingut Dr. Heger - Ihringer Winklerberg ‘Rappenecker’ Weissburgunder Grosses Gewächs — 2 years ago
Richer, denser, with more weight yet still very fresh, very fine and with loads of character.
Cherries & cranberries galore with touch of undergrowth, mushrooms and herby spice.
On the palate this is not that light, with slightly chewy yet very juicy tannins, brilliant acidity, a tea like mouthfeel. Complex, layered, elegant. This is quite exceptional! — 4 years ago
Mineral-forward aromas... limestone... and a little citrus pith. Bright acidity, crisp yellow apple and lemon peel, lingering minerals. — 3 years ago
Yummy, a great German! Being German I am not a big fan of German wines but this one was great. — 3 years ago
A little bit more refined than the ‘15, or maybe just a little bit more crushable in its youth? — 6 years ago

My parents come from the ABC generation so convincing them to try a german chardonnay wasn't easy...this wont be a problem in the future! Getting your hands on this wine is becoming increasingly difficult and you can see why. A beautiful wine with depth and balance, precision and expertise that will only improve with time. Truly a classic under german wines — 7 days ago
