7/23/2023 dabo passed away yesterday. This is from his stash. 18 year very smooth, beautiful fragrance, no peat. Rich… decadently rich aroma that harmoniously layers sweet and earthy notes seamlessly. — a year ago
Some fancy scotch as a birthday treat, hopefully I can try Glenlivet soon!! — 3 years ago
It’s been years since I was able to try this expression that was the second edition of the now completed Private Edition releases that culminated with “Allta”. The purpose of “Finealta” was to reimagine what Glenmorangie might have tasted like long ago when the distillery managed their own malting floor and used more peat for fuel. This bottle has been well preserved and it’s divine with just a kiss of peat. Sort of reminds me of Tale of the Forest. — a year ago
One of my favorite Private Editions and sadly, my last dram from my only bottle. IIRC, these were finished in Sassicaia barrels. — 2 years ago
This is an interesting Highland single malt. It’s a bit rougher than others I’ve had. Nose of orange, sherbert, caramel, but also a big hit of alcohol and acetone. The mouth is more of the same with a stronger acetone background. The worst part is a copper taste that carries on through the finish. It drinks hot, but not too hot. Drinks like a younger whisky. — 9 months ago
Another year, another Tale from the creative mind of Dr. Bill. This time around, the focus is on the wood and in this case, the additional finishing in Mizunara casks. The Japanese oak is notoriously difficult to work with and I guess the casks leaked like crazy…but the expression is wonderful. — a year ago
Vintage 2005 | 70% sémillon 20% sauvignon blanc 10% muscadelle. It comes in a 37,5 cl bottle, about the length of a cork longer than a 75 cl bottle: here I am! Impressive smell of honey and apricot, and a taste of nectar, beautiful sweetness. | Paired with my love’s apple crumble with cranberries and currants soaked in single malt - nomnomnom — 2 years ago
