Probably approaching or at its peak, an inexpensive Riserva that paired nicely with mushroom ravioli with an olio and sun dried tomato sauce. — 2 months ago
It also has a bit of chardonnay and riesling in various percentages depending on the vintage.
Favorita vines are pretty old, they were planted in 1980. It is a clone of vermentino apparently that has established itself in Piemonte.
The wine is dry, personality, freshness and it is easy drinking.
The price is a bonus.

Cassis, flowers. On the “big” side but still light on its feet. Very woody. — 4 years ago
By far my favorite Valpolicella. See previous reviews. The downside is it used to be affordable easy. Now it’s close to $60 a btl.
Earth, smoke, forest, tarry yet light ( ish). As far as i remember, made from purchased grapes. At least the first vintage. All in all, a highly idiosyncratic winemaker with some hits across the board and a meh here and there. I return to this particular wine however to fill my Valpolicella jones.

Whelan's from Ed K, great value, 2023 drinking well, a bit of tart, but great structure, very pleasing on the nose, cracking wine/experience so happy to have expanded beyond French classics which are and still consistent and benchmark for my palatte — 7 days ago
