A surprisingly gorgeous evening in DC tonight at a favorite classic bistro. This Giggie has loads of ripe fruit, but is drinking really well already. Very soft, decent acids. Some savory notes. The alcohol (15%) pooks through on the back half of the palate. But it was served a little warmer than I’d like, so that probably amplified it. — 8 months ago

#AgedWineTuesday.
Dark ruby in color with a reddish/ brick rim.
Pretty nose of red and black fruits with cedar, licorice and chocolate notes.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with sweet raspberries, cherries, plums, light cedar, earth, herbs, chocolates, black pepper and tobacco leaf.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a delicious 14 year old GSM blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Rich, but not extracted. Elegant with lots of chocolate notes. Well balanced with nice complexity.
Impressively fresh and youthful for its age, with good structure and balance. The high alcohol is well integrated by now.
I've had a few vintages of this wine and it is very consistent.
Drinking at its peak, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.
A gorgeous wine to drink by itself or with food.
A blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 20% Mourvedre. Grapes from very old vines are aged in new French oak barrels for 14 months.
15% alcohol by volume.
93 points.

Pale lemon with pronounced stone fruit and citrus aromas with floral blossoms, slight petrol notes. On the palate flavors of apricot, peach, pear and lime citrus with vivid acidity, minerality and spice. Medium+ finish ending dry with fresh fruit, floral and mineral notes. — 6 months ago
This Cabernet begins with a glistening dark amethyst color followed by a bouquet of sweet cigar, clove, ripe blackberry, and a pinch of Madagascar vanilla. On the palette, blackberry, jammed plum, French oak and tobacco…a full bodied wine with an exceptional finish that continues to linger until the next sip! — a year ago
2021 was a cooler finesse year in CdP and it shows with this wine. Savory nose: charcuterie, dried plums and fig. It doesn’t drink hot, plenty of snappy acidity, some spicy notes, wild cherry and grippy tannins on the finish. I’ll be seeking out more 2021 CdPs based on this one. #châteauneufdupape — 2 months ago
