Fresh, bright acidity — 20 days ago
Double decant 1 hour. Color — brilliant garnet red! An aroma of dark cherry, vanilla and cedar strikes the nose with floating essence of floral and spices and a subtle barn yard funk lingering at the end. Taste— Honey-vanilla spice notes rest on the tip of the tongue leading to the dark cherry tart flavors on the mid-pallet giving it a juicy luscious feel in the mouth. The medium plus finish lingers with a cedar barnyard funk where you can still taste the presence of the tannins. Needs to age longer so the tannins and flavors are more integrated, but enjoying this Pinot on a rainy evening; definitely need here in CA! — 13 days ago
The Ritchie is one of the more pleasurable Napa/Sonoma Chardonnay’s I’ve had. The fruit is very good and made by Winemaker-Jean Hoefliger...who has a French background & goes easy on the new oak.
The body is thick and round with nice viscosity. Green apple, lemon, lime candy, overripe pineapple, just a touch of buttered popcorn, caramel, soft wood notes and backbone, butterscotch, delicate chalkiness, limestone & volcanics with yellow lilies, spring flowers and mixed greens. Full round acidity. Beautifully polished, elegant & s well balanced finish that persists nicely.
Photos of; the entrance to AXR’s main tasting room at the rear of the property, their guest house that in the days of prohibition was a Brothel, a sitting area under the Redwoods that overlooks their Estate vines & the AXR house that fronts the property. — 9 days ago
Needed something “known” to drink and this fit the bill. The light color hides the multi-berries flavors that tend to favor raspberry. Slight flint and chalk are mixed at the mid palate with mild earth tones. Would recommend letting it open up a bit. As always though, this brought a smile to my face. — 10 days ago
Pale straw in color with a golden hue.
Strong nose of citrus, vanilla, spices, oak, yellow apples, pears and white pepper.
Full bodied, buttery and smooth, with medium plus acidity.
Dry on the palate with citrus, melons, apples, light grapefruits, spices, hazelnuts, oak, vanilla and peppercorn.
Nice length on the finish with spices and almonds.
This is a very tasty Chardonnay from Russian River Valley.
Spicy and intriguing. Interesting with a buttery, smooth mouthfeel. Nicely balanced and Oaky.
Right out of the bottle, it is in your face kind of wine, but as it opens up, it calms down a bit with less oak and vanilla notes, so give it 20 minutes.
Will be nice to see how this evolves in 5 to 7 years.
Good by itself or with food. I paired it with a cheese plate.
14.5% alcohol by volume.

Probably the best Aubert Chard I have ever had. The way it evolved and the balance between oak, acid, fruit, and mineral was special. Toward the end of the night it was leaning into a grand cru Burgundy. It was new world, but had those leanings. A special wine for sure. — 8 days ago
