Pop and ppur yesterday. Notes from 24 hrs open unrefrigerated on the counter. On the nose: olive brine, cabbage, garrigue, blackberry, vaguely like a (WA/OR) Rocks district syrah. On the palate: lovely acidity, solid density, blackberry, earth, stewed cabbage. The juiciness is intense on the finish, almost overpowering the soft grainy tannin. A gorgeous btl. Yum. — 6 months ago
Nose: some funk. Blows off. White flowers.
Palate: sweet fruit. Mineral. Good. Well made. Not too wooly.

Enjoyed this one with a classic French meal of steak and béarnaise with roasted carrots and dauphinois potatoes. Hints of oak and cherry and red currants. Lots of merlot keeps it soft and supple. One guys comment was “tart cherries peel through the windows in the rain-slicked cobblestone alley.” Quite poetic and really accurate. There is a wet stone quality to this wine that appeals to me. Enjoyed and would drink again. — 3 months ago
Pale yellow in color; lemon zest, honeysuckle, and lemon grass on the nose; high acidity; tastes like lemons, starfruit, saline, and a hint of passion fruit with a long finish. Leo likes it, and I do too. — 5 months ago
Mid gold in colour. Aromatics of yellow peach and honeyed notes. No traces of petro chemical. Medium plus intensity of stone fruit and mineral on the palate. Great depth. One of the top Rieslings in Alsace and showing it in spades. A beautiful Riesling and probably at its peak. Will stay on this plateau through the 2020’s. Interestingly about 25% went through malolactic so this is a different style from the usual Cuvée Frederic Emile. Very fresh for a 14 year old Riesling but remaining fleshy and M plus bodied. — 4 months ago
