Summer Shandy

Not only is this a weekend to remember those who have lost their lives for us, but it’s a sad weekend for me. I lost a longtime friend to cancer yesterday. We went to high school together in Iceland and we both served in the Navy. Normally this would be our weekend to get together and hang out at the pool, drinking beer and listening to 80’s music. RIP Faye I’ll miss you my friend — 2 years ago

Campbell Lane

Willamette Valley Pinot Gris 2019

Pale lemon in color with a green hue.

On the nose citrus, vegetables, herbs, green apples, earth, minerals, and grapefruit juice.

Medium bodied with medium acidity. Crisp and refreshing with long legs.

Dry on the palate with limes, grapefruits, citrus, green apples, lemons, bitter herbs, earth and vegetables.

Tangy finish with limes and almonds.

This young Pinot Gris from Oregon is easy drinking and tangy, with a soft mouthfeel. Surprisingly good out of a can.

Earthier on the nose than on the palate. As it opens up, grapefruit notes show up on the nose, and nicer with some airtime, so be patient.

I had an older vintage of this wine, and it definitely is better with some age. I wonder how it would age in a can, though. For now, it is lemony and refreshing. A nice sipper by the pool.

Good by itself or with food. Will pair nicely with fresh seafood like oysters.

Aged in neutral French Oak barrels and stainless steel for 11 months.

13.3% alcohol by volume.

89 points.

Maison Saint Aix

Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence Rosé 2019

Very interesting Rosé, complexion of fruit notes (super very subtle of watermelon) but so smooth finishes (wet The whole mouth with more saliva, but yet dry acidic fresh)
No wonder why they have this in a magnum sizes, Cuz it’s enjoyable for everyone, even the beginner to the wine tasting. Drinking in the pool, during a first date or at home during shelter in place, suitable of ‘em all lol.

Castello di Amorosa

North Coast Pinot Grigio 2020

Pale lemon in color with a green hue.

Fruity nose of citrus, lemons, apples, sweet grapefruits, light green vegetables, herbs and spices.

Medium-bodied with medium plus acidity. Nice and refreshing.

Dry on the palate with citrus, lemons, yellow apples, spices, light tropical fruits, white pepper and minerals.

Medium finish with limes and light grapefruits.

This is a very tasty Pinot Grigio from California. Easy drinking with nice balance.

Good by itself or with food, and will pair nicely with fresh green salads.

Tangy and fruit forward with a creamy mouthfeel.

A great party wine that I had by the pool with a great view.

Domaine François Raveneau

Clos Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2000

This is amazing. A rush of rock pool, salinity, yellow fruit, soft citrus on the nose. Loads of slatey mineral and rock. On the palate this expands and expands. It’s just amazing how this is so complex but restrained and in place. Just wow. — 4 years ago

Domaine de la Pépière

Clos des Briords Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Muscadet Sèvre & Maine Sur Lie Melon de Bourgogne 2020

Popped and poured. Steely grey straw color in the glass with medium-viscosity. On the nose, minerals, green apples, peach, and pink flowers. On the palate, Granny Smith apple, lemon and an unbelievable amount of minerals. Medium+ acid and super long with a lovely texture. I’m suddenly craving a pool and a dozen oysters. Alas, it’s late November and I’m in Nebraska. — 2 years ago

Tranche Cellars

Pape Blanc Blue Mountain Vineyard Viognier Blend 2017

This is a delicious white wine from Walla Walla Valley. Very lightly oaked, with wood and smoked bacon notes on the nose. Very interesting, intriguing and tasty.

Showing citrus, lemons, limes, light grapefruits, green apples, spices, light oak, light vanilla, white pepper, minerals, herbs and light vegetables.

Dry on the palate with a spicy finish.

This Single Vineyard has good potential. Would be nice to see how this evolves in the next couple of years.

This Rhône blend is better when not very chilled. Showing nice complexity. Crisp and refreshing.

Good by itself or with food. I had it by the pool.
