The 2021 Falanghina del Sannio Preta is pretty and delicate in the glass. It wafts up with peach and dusty yellow floral aromas. This is pure and energetic, with bright acidity elevating crisp orchard fruits. Its minerality blends with a salty mineral flourish that comes through on the finish. $22.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, August 2023) — a year ago
The 2021 Soave is a charmer. Vividly fruity, floral and wickedly fresh on the nose, it blends candied lime and salty minerals with sour melon, all driven by juicy acidity. A tropical flourish appears as this tapers off with lovely tension. Enjoy soon to take advantage of its zesty character. $15.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, April 2023) — 2 years ago
2019 vintage. The excellent 2018 version carried slightly more weight and finished with an intriguing honeycomb flourish. The 2019 effort is no less delicious but much more nimble, flashing plenty of apricot, nectarine, pear and peach flavors. A tad more acidity and just enough unctuous/oily character gives the 2019 the nod-barely-over the 2018. Can think of worse things than a Condrieu vertical/horizontal tho. — 2 years ago
The 2021 Rosso di Montalcino wafts up with a mentholated freshness, hauntingly dark florals and crushed blackberries. It's round and supple, with ripe red fruits, licorice, bitter balsamic and cooling acidity. A sweet spice flourish emerges toward the close. $22.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous March 2024) — 8 months ago
More like a spiced herbal tea than wine in the glass, the 2020 Il Frappato wafts up with a smoky mix of dusty rose, sage, allspice and crushed ashen stone. This is pure and delicate in feel, with a salty flourish up front that gives way to citrus-tinged wild berries and red plums. It leaves the palate completely refreshed, tapering off with a staining of liquid inner florals and licorice nuances. While I don’t see the 2020 making old bones, it would benefit from a short stay in the cellar to help unlock more of its aromatic profile. It’s an understated beauty. Captivating is the word, as the 2010 Taurasi explodes from the glass with an earthy blend of black raspberry and savory spices complicated by nuances of sweet tobacco and ash. This is deeply textural, with waves of dark ripe fruit offset by stimulating acidity, sour citrus and a salty flourish toward the close. This finishes smoky, structured and long, with lingering kalamata olive and savory herbs notes, all framed by hulking tannins. The future is bright, and its balance is perfect, yet today, the 2010 is almost painful to taste. My best advice is to bury it in the cellar. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2023) — a year ago
Popped and poured, the 2019 “Vigna Rionda” pours a brilliant garnet color with medium+ viscosity and no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with fresh red cherries, forest strawberries, tar, some red flowers, some light baking spices. One the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is dry and finishes with a flourish. A baby and yet this is drinking well right now (as many 2019’s are). Drink now with patience so you can enjoy the ride but I expect this will drink well for the next 15+ years. — a year ago
Mind bender from Canary Island - first of all, beautiful bottle with custom flourish on the top opening. This wine is wild, so much saline & minerals, crushed seashells & stones, lemon/lime, dried tea leaves & herbs, some quinine… just so out here. Austere angular, all sharp edges & zesty acidity, and absolutely viciously bone dry. You have to get the food pairing right on this - we didn’t but still a cerebral exercise. — a year ago
The 2021 Riesling Poet's Leap is decidedly green in character, wafting up with notes of lychee, lime zest and crushed green apple. This flows across the palate with grace, displaying a pleasant inner sweetness, as tropical citrus and saline-minerals add a lovely tension throughout. This tapers off with young mango notes accentuated by a salty flourish through the long and crisply refreshing finale. The 2021 is so balanced and refined, just 12.5% alcohol, and at just under one gram of residual sugar per liter. (Eric Guido, Vinous, March 2023) — 2 years ago

The 2022 Pinot Grigio opens with a minty flourish, blending crushed green apples with white smoke and ginger. Candied lime and spice complicate its inner sweetness, while green apple notes add contrast toward the close. The tense, medium-length finish ends with salt and sour green melon. $20.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, April 2024) — 7 months ago
