Chateau St. Jean

Reserve Eighty-Five Fifty-Five Cuvée Red Blend 2015

First year of our vertical tasting for Thanksgiving. Pomegranate and clove on the nose. Upfront there is a tart blueberry note and even some chamomile. Finishes with some cherry. Pretty balanced and will go good with the meal. — 5 days ago

Fratelli Alessandria

Monvigliero Barolo Nebbiolo 2013

Five hours in the decanter to “break on through”. Plenty of acid, tannins—crystal ball says long life ahead of these. Good fruit, eucalyptus notes, slate, cedar. Tannic finish with a hint of heat. Lovely, but definitely resist the urge for another ten years. Enjoyed as birthday wine with chicken liver ragù. — 6 days ago

Just WOW. Thick, sticky, sweet and fruity with currants and sultanas all wrapped up in this golden ball which slides across the palate leaving a feel good glow. — 22 days ago

Grower Collection Calesa Vineyard Five Blocks Petaluma Gap Chardonnay 2018

Blinded Napa Chard but wasn’t expecting Petaluma Gap. Medium butterscotch/vanilla oak-influence, retaining very drinkable acid. — 23 days ago

Le Complice Adelaida District Syrah Blend 2017

Beautifully floral and energetic. Tangy red/blue fruited with five spice and brown sugar. Syrah-based blend featuring 12% of Terret Noir, something imma have to look up after enjoying this bottle. — 13 days ago

Riserva gli Angeli Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2010

Purchased this roughly five years ago. Worth the wait open. What a lovely, delicious wine! — 16 days ago

One Point Five Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

The earth cometh as this one gets older. Dense and ripe on the mid palate with a little pucker on the finish. This will have a nice stink in a few years. A little pine on the nose that took a few hours to dissipate. — 25 days ago

Rock Wall Wine Co.

Sutter County Fiano 2018

Can we give this a high five? It’s supple and also muscular like a power yogi who doesn’t need to end their sessions with an om. Ripe honey (probably not a thing but I feel it), and pickled golden delicious apple skins (also not a thing but whatevs) and goodness it is strong but smooth. It coats the mouth with a a slight kick. Chill and ready but fast moving. Ashtanga Fiano. — 8 days ago
