The Familia Torres are the largest owners of organic vineyards in all of Spain. I love when large producers make commitments like that. But I’ve long been a fan of Mas La Plana and this vintage is no exception.

Opened sometime prior to service. The 2018 pours a ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with beautiful notes of cassis, tobacco, capsicum, purple flowers, dry organic earth, and a mix of dry herbs and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tanning and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Just awesome stuff. These are long-loved wines. Torres family has been related to wine since 17th century when their ancestors first planted vines in the Penedès, a winegrowing region dating to the days of the Phoenicians. Deep Ruby with aromas of jammy fruit, pepper and toasty cedar. On the palate this blend of Cariñena, Garnacha and Syrah shows black currant, jammy blackberry and pepper, vivid acidity with fine grainy tannins, long finish ending with fruit, spice, oak and earthy character.
