This is a wine my wife bought me when she was not my wife.

Just a mere girlfriend. Newly minted.

It’s survived four moves and five homes.

20 seasons.

The color has definitely warmed up a bit. Flourishes of golden swirls.

Smells more like a Chardonnay than a caricante.

Notes of honey and hazelnut. Still a line of minerality throughout. Citrus and orange peel. But the fruits have lightened and turned into something more nuanced and nutty.

Beautiful and worth sitting on for 7 years and 10 years from the harvest.

2022 vintage. Medium body and plenty of punch. Throws in spices and earth. Solid pricing. Don't move much Barbaresco. If someone pulled this out from underneath the table in a decade tho, I'd have a huge smile. Can fight through the tannins now if you must. See my previous notes from last year. By all accounts, this bottle is an analog of the previous bottles I have enjoyed of the 2021 “Vie Erte”. This time, I was able to track the wine over three days and it never lost power. The fruit and structure are in harmonious balance. I am so excited to try this vintage when it begins to show some secondary characteristics…but I’m fully expecting to see exercise some serious patience. Garganaga 70 % with remaining 30 % of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
From a combination of volcanic tuff and limestone soils. Aged 6 months in stainless steel before bottling.
Pale gold in colour.
Citrus, lemon zest, nutty and herbal aroma.
Yellow plum, white peach and tarragon with grassy and herbal flavours.

Bert’s June wine tasting - this has a nice flavor - unpacked and it’s a blend. The vineyard was Luigi Baidana and he sold his vineyard to this vineyard who makes borolo and makes wine the way he did rather than selling to rich folks who just wanted his property. — 3 months ago
