It's Christmas Eve and am enjoying the holiday the best we can. We were able to have a few family members over. For this evening I opened the 2008 Château Cantemerel Haut-Médoc. This is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdo.
On the nose the dark fruit comes through with black cherry, blackberry, stewed prunes, licorice, mint chocolate, sweet oak and rich earth.
On the palate the dark fruit follows through with black cherry, black raspberry, licorice, bell pepper, dark chocolate, charred oak and an earthiness.
This bottle is medium to full bodied that has a smooth velvety mouthfeel with medium acidity and fine nearly resolved tannins which seamlessly move into a long dark fruit earthy finish. May you all have a wonderful Christmas a receive beautiful bottles of wine as presents. Stay healthy and safe that we can enjoy a better 2021. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 5 years ago

Had this on Christmas Eve with family, and it is a very good, light Pinot. Will be getting again when I get the chance! — 5 years ago
X-mas eve with family and parents. A bit less lush than normal but went well with Korean Fried chicken. — 4 years ago
It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a delicious Cabernet Franc from Napa Valley.
Deep purple in color with a purplish rim.
On the nose black plums, cooked cherries, black currants, cedar, licorice, vanilla, milk chocolates, coffee, black pepper, spices and light earth.
Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, vanilla, spices, espresso, cola, chocolates, light alcohol, sweet caramel and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a very tasty Cabernet Franc. Easy drinking and good as a sipping wine. Very chocolatey and so smooth and delicious.
Drinking very nicely already, although very young at this point. Would be nice to revisit this in 3 years, and will age nicely in the next 7 to 10 years.
Although it is dry, it has a sweet feel, like chocolate covered dried fruits, which makes it very pleasant and interesting.
Good right out of the bottle and much better after an hour in a decanter. Showing nice complexity with a nice, soft mouthfeel. Fruit forward and rich.
Will pair nicely with grilled meats. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses,
100% Cabernet Franc grapes were aged for 18 months in mostly French Oak barrels. A small production of only 250 cases.
14.2% alcohol by volume.
92 points.
