Floral tension, ripe strawberries, and volcanic minerality combine to make a feminine personality. Given its birth in Brouilly, it displays Mediterranean qualities of jammy fruit and iron. Acid stays lively while structured tannins give depth and adaptability with food. As always, Cru Beaujolais gives high QPR no matter the vintage. Drinking this bitch young as one should. — 9 years ago

House wine at El Gaucho restaurant which is next to the Mexican restaurant (same ownership). El Gaucho is an Argentinian steakhouse. 14,95€ on the wine list. Second time trying this one. OK wine, pleasant but nothing special. Would order again. At Port Duquesa, Costa del Sol, Spain. — 3 years ago

Managed by Jean Eugène Borie SA, & her daughter Sabine Coiffe & her son Bruno-Eugène, the 3rd generation of the Borie family to head estate, with close links among the 5 families of successive owners. A blend of 95% Cab Sauv & 5% Merlot, in 100% new French oak, aromas of ripe black fruits with espresso & smoky herb notes. On the palate currants & blackberry with pepper, cigar and oak. Fine soft tannins, perfect acidity balance, lingering ending with an earthy mineral character. Wow! This needs a few years. Tasting Sample. — 8 years ago

20% Pinot Noir, 20% Chard, 60% Jacquère ( I think), Methode Traditionelle. Crisp clean mountain bubbles. Great bubbles for the buck, as cremants usually are. Savoie even more so. — 9 years ago
