The last time I had this was at The French Laundry trying to convince someone to support a nonprofit I love. The subsequent gift was generous but, somehow, underwhelming. This wine is like that. A great vintage, a great vineyard, in great hands, but it had so much more potential. I’m not whining about a 97-point wine; I’m lucky to enjoy it. But it could’ve been even more. — 3 months ago
Nice balance with only mild sweetness, Paired perfectly with Chinese food with any Asian dishes. Drank in November 2024 — 3 months ago
— 23 days ago
2023 Dr. Loosen Erdener Prälat Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel. On the nose honey, and tropical fruit: guava papaya, hint of spice; almost white pepper; tangerine, jasmine. On the palate, good concentration; honey more beautifully ripe mango (almost like a creamy mango lassi), tangerine, very nice apricots; slate minerality; a spine of acidity balances all the ripe fruit. The fruit quality shines here so I don’t feel bad drinking this young. — a month ago
Drinking very well right now (2024). Critics said to drink up but I found it still having strong fruit balancing the dirt. Reminded me of some lovely aged Bordeaux I've had in the past. I'd enjoy now or over the next few years if you're lucky enough to have any bottles. Cheers! — 3 months ago
Dark berries with hints of licorice. Smooth finish with nicely integrated tannins. It’s a quintessential California Cab. — 13 hours ago
Very nice dry Riesling. Went very well with calamari and whitefish. Good for just sipping. — 3 days ago
Complex, dry Riesling, apricot, apple, tangerine and minerality. — 25 days ago
Still delicious and has changed less with age than I expected. Not sure if I should have sat on it longer. It has gotten nuttier with hazelnut becoming more prominent. Still a lot of oak and lemon, with a touch of flint and brioche. It’s — 3 months ago

The nose was a bit closed at first but is now opening up with chalk and lovely lemon curd and lemon zest notes as the wine slowly warms up in the glass. There is also a light floral touch too along with some fresh white grape.
This is very inviting. The palate is superb with a superlative acid backbone, some delicious lemon curd and zesty notes all along, some chalky mouthfeel that changes in the rear with a bit of grip, before a long, fresh and tangy finish with lemon curd and that zesty twist that makes you reach for the bottle for a second glass right after the first one. This is unmistakably a German Riesling Kabinett, and a great example at that!
Edit : now that the wine has warmed up in the glass, notes of fresh white peach and roasted pineapple with honey are popping up in the nose. Delicious! — 3 days ago
