Oeno P Tria Ampelia 2020, the first vintage from this new botique winery in Santorini, set up by Paris Sigalas, of Domaine Sigalas fame. 100% Assyrtiko from various parcels, an average vine age of 60 years. Aged in amphorae for 16 months. The typical salinity and acidity of Assyrtiko, with rounded mid-palate of citrus fruits, melon, and a medium length finish. Tasted at recently opened tasting room at the northern end of Santorini, near Oia.

2018 vintage. 100% Sémillon, aged in barriques for 8 months. Deep yellow colour. This really looks, smells, and tastes like dry Sauternes. Exotic fruits, lemon confit, crème anglaise,honey and flowers. Intense, powerful taste with exotic fruits, a round mouthfeel, and a subtle bitterness in the long finish. An unusual, exuberant wine that might not please everyone, but a great culinary challenge for hobby cooks and real chefs alike. Abv. 14%. — 9 days ago
