Cuvee William Pommard Pinot Noir 2023
Always the woodiest as this is usually 100% new wood but it’s so well integrated at this stage and yes this aged so well. Had a 98 in summer 23 that was stunning. Nose has cocoa, vanilla, wild red cherry, spice and minerals. Needs to integrate but it’s all there. Gorgeous aromatic depth. Palate is woody and so silky with gorgeous, decadent red cherry fruit and terrific freshness. So pure and yet another brilliant William wine from 2023. So velvety and the tannins are so suave. Brilliant! Can’t wait to see how it airs. — 7 months ago

Carelle Sous La Chapelle Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2023
I adore this site. The texture is always on point. Restrained opulence is the calling card here. Nose is super complex and stoney out of the gates. Really a mess of limestone and some fresh hermes Then the intense ripe cherry leaks through. Black cherry, red cherry, sour cherry all at once. Nuclear levels of spice, stone and even some mulberry. Superb balance and energy with compelling sweetness and stoniness. Lush, plush texture that will get even more lush and plus with air. Very seductive. Oh man the tiny berry fruit intensity is off the charts. Juicy and so sweet but backed up by insane energy and stoniness. Opening by the minute. Terrific inner mouth aromas and just amazing velvety tannins. 9.5 for now but let’s see the go higher with air. — 10 months ago

Les Perrières Pommard Pinot Noir 2020
Really stoney nose and lovely deep cherry liquor/compote but is belied by a sense of freshness. Wow the palate is just gorgeous. Amazing freshness and big red and sour cherries with a treacly texture. Super elegant and lithe. Wow the fruit on this is just incredible. Love the tanginess of the palate and the intense lift and high acid allied with bouncy sweet fruit. The nose has a lovey soil aroma now. Such a deep stoniness and also strawberry compote. So complex. A clear step up from the Trois Terroirs and Cuvee William. Terrific inner mouth fruit and energy. Just overflowing with fruits. But finished with cleansing minerals and just the right amount of opulence. This is fantastic. Really dense, yet light and mineral but also contemplative and that core of bright red fruits. Super floral, lifted, black cherry aromas that jump out of the glass. Earthy, gamey aromas as well. So aromatic. 9.6 nose. Stoney as Pommard can be. Unreal palate. So ungodly delicious. Stunning inner mouth aromas and just awesome sweet red cherry fruit. Tiny berry fruit intensity. Unreal mineral sheath. All stony. So Pommard but also so Rebourgeon. So complex. Nose is slick red and black cherry with huge mineral background and spices Cranberry bog as well. Palate is ripe, rich and sleek with terrific inner mouth aromas and a bit of wood that needs to integrate. Juicy, pure, explosive and balanced. Lacks a bit of energy and verve but we will see what happens with air. Wow did this get stunning with air. Huge confectionary aromas and awesome palate sweetness. Purity, freshness and balance with just amazing tannins and sweetness. 9.3 to 9.5. — 8 months ago

Les Trois Terroirs Pommard Pinot Noir 2023
Gorgeously red fruited and boisterous nose. Red cherries all the way. Stunning stony aromas as well and unreal lift. Lots of red cherry skin as well. Terrific energy and chord progression fruit as well. Juicy, complex and very energetic and appears wide open at first but let’s see where air takes it. Wondeful acidify and freshness and lovely sour cherry fruit. Really fine and velvety tannins and I can’t believe how red fruited it is. Sweet and ripe tannins. Terrific inner mouth aromas with air and insane sweetness. A winner! Now with 7 hours of air it’s so stoney and classically Pommard. Palate is ample and juicy and super mineral with tangy red fruits. But man is this mineral. Like licking stones. — 10 months ago

Les Epenottes Beaune Pinot Noir 2022
Gorgeous nose that is primary and grapey with some bright mid to late season cherry and a hint of reduction that will blow off. Now some raspberry sweet cake and a hint of cocoa add alluring complexity. Reduction already blowing off. But still needs hours to become fully aromatically expressive. Palate is so clean, so juicy and so precise with crystalline fruit that just crackles and is ripe. Wow. This is amazing. I think I sold for $42. Unreal finish and super cleansing minerality. Lovely amplitude in the mid palate and just thrilling fruit. With air the fruit is sweetening up and it has terrific inner mouth aromas and a confectionary quality on the palate when you swish. Amazing wine. Almost 9.5. — 2 years ago

Gorgeous and very stoney nose. Like crushed limestone and the smoke from it being pulverized. Deep black and red cherry. Smells like a place. A place I want to be. Juicy and so energetic with glorious fruit and unreal energy and internal architecture. Unreal balance and so pure. What a wine and what a vintage for the kid. So juicy and brilliant tiny berry fruit intensity and such explosiveness. Long finish with velvety tannins and insane sweetness. So good. — 9 months ago

Nose is classic with green apple skins, some phyllo dough, spice and nice minerals. Uncomplicated but gorgeous in its effect. Palate is juicy and plump. Good freshness and texture. In a glorious place. So elegant. More to come. Wet earth and deep red cherries on the nose on a background slab of minerals. Complex spice as well. Palate is so juicy and generous. Luscious, deep fruit with suave, velvety tannins and unreal density without weight. Such a mineral finish. After 16 hours open it’s so juicy, silky and downright decadent. 19 has amazing fruit. — a year ago

Bu sur + de 3 heures, aération en carafe à l’ouverture. Arômes de fruits noirs, cerises, assez végétal. Belle couleur rubis! La carafe lui a fait un grand bien malgré ses 15 ans. Bien que le 1er verre m’a donné une légère incertitude mais le tout c’est replacé rapidment et le vin est tout simplement magnifique!
En bouche, il y a de la matière, belle acidité qui garde la structure du vin. En bouche, la mure, l cerises noires, un peu végétale, boîte à cigare. Tres long en bouche. Wow! — 4 years ago
