Château de Haute-Serre

Cahors Malbec 2017

This is a full bodied Malbec that is mellow and well built with moderate tannins that dissipated to breathe & transform into superb wine! — 5 days ago

Bass Phillip

Premium Gippsland Pinot Noir 2010

Catching up with old wine notes now that I’m spending more time at home. Aromas of earth, mushrooms, beetroot, root vegetables in general. Afterwards - dried rose petals. Easily Premier Cru standard. The palate is intense, fluid, long and very Burgundian - the most of any Australian Pinot although I am hearing wonderful things about By Farr Serre. A sooty tarry earthy element developed after a while. A brilliant Pinot Noir. — a year ago

Arguably the best pinot from Australia. Your thoughts?

@Ron R I think so Ron. Perhaps bettered by Bass Phillip’s Reserve if you can find it. The 2017 last year released at $625 per bottle. All relative I guess - cheap compared to a Grand Cru. Rob Geddes MW said that Bass Phillip has produced some of the best Pinot he has drunk from anywhere worldwide which is a big call. Tassie is producing some great Pinot like Tolpuddle, Chatto and Home Hill. Also By Farr from Geelong.

Not forgetting Bindi Block 5 and Yabby Lake but if you had to pick one it would be Bass Phillip IMO.

Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia Bolgheri Rosso Merlot Blend 2012

Earth, dusty, red fruit. Well balanced acidity, wood use and tannins.

But the nose is the most striking: roses and lavender

Château Combel la Serre

Le Pur Friut du Causse Cahors Malbec 2018

Wow. TART.
Took another taste and, just as Joshua said, maybe my palate wasn’t ready. It wasn’t ready because even though it’s still tart and dry I’m really liking this one.

Domaine Du Serre Des Vignes

Mas de Maelere Les Adhémar Carignan 2018

A gorgeous, exciting young Rhone with blackberry, freshly mulled earth, and a bouquet of deep-hued flowers on the nose. On the palate there is a very welcome sweetness alongside the deep rich black cherry, blackberry, and very gentle barrel notes. The finish marries the medium plus tannins with a lingering berry patch sweetness. Absolutely delicious. — 3 months ago
