Continuing to check out the recently arrived 22 Burgs and they continue to impress. Gorgeous nose of intense spice, light toasty oak, dark flowers, and gorgeously clear red cherry fruit. Palate is sappy and elegant with spice and flowers and glorious darker cherry fruits. So refined, sleek and subtle. Awesome breadth and depth and terrific freshness and velvety and sweet tannins. So brilliant. Let’s see where air takes this. Getting more dense with air and wow that fruit. — 16 days ago

Solid all around. For not being a Pinot/Red Burg drinker, this was lovely. — 6 months ago

Gorgeous nose of deep cherry fruit, tweed jacket, minerals and wet earth. Gorgeous and classic SLB and classic Girard. Fleshy and ripe but excellent cut and grip. Superb supple red fruits and nice finesse for such a humble wine. Tiny berry fruit intensity and so sappy. Great dissipation on the finish. — a month ago

The 21’s here are masterful. Nose of late season black cherries, late season red cherries, earth, mineral and more. Blueberry and blackberry as well. So deep and expressive. That’s 21! Palate is teeming with energy and juiciness. Sour and red cherries and glorious silky tannins and lovely sweetness. Long and flowy. Needs time but just spectacular. So much finesse now and the fruit is all red now. — 9 months ago

Aloxe-Corton Pinot Noir 2019

Glorious nose. So exuberant. Rich, dense black and red cherries. Cranberry and black plum. Gorgeous lift. Palate has great freshness and deep black and red cherry fruit. Very pure and terrific acidity fans out on the long finish. Really lithe yet classic dense, structured and classic Aloxe. Really ripe, sweet, chewy and dense tannins. Girard always delivers. Fruit set that is developing on the finish is fantastic. 2019 is a modern day 1999. As this airs it gains in opulence, sap and a little toasty oak. Ideally a few more years. — 2 months ago

Nose: very earthy. Darkish cherries.

Palate: dark cherries. Cherry lipstick. Delicious. A bit simple. But very delicious.

Glorious bottle. Red and black cherries jump out of the glass with shimmering clarity. Black raspberry and violets. Really terrific nose. 9.5. Palate is velvety and sweet with juicy and super pure black cherry fruit and real density, explosiveness and length while being light in tannins but there is still a delicate structure here and wow that length. Real finesse as well. Best Serpentieres from Girard I have ever had. — 9 months ago
