Date drank: August 2018
Year: 2014
Producer: Bloomer Creek
Grape(s): 50% Reisling, 50% cayuga white
Region: Cayuga Lake. Finger lakes. NY
Distributor/Importer: na
Natty: yes. Low input organic vineyards. No sulfer added
Tasting Notes: First, the nose was amazing, very aromatic with hints of orange peel, honey, lemon maybe ? Its a late harvest but fermented to dryness and amazingly balanced with fruit and sweetness while also being dry and clean. Doesnt cloy and goes well with fish or light summer vegetables. I still dream about this wine — 4 years ago
With a dry-aged ny strip, perhaps the perfect meal. This would be even better aged s few years. — 8 years ago
Vintage 2014 | Razorsharpe Chenin Blanc with minerality. Not a wine to get acquainted with the grape, it does by no means try to charm you. But for lovers of a Chenin Blanc, it is top! Nice acidity. Pure. | A lot like @Peter van den Besselaar ’s Boudignon from last week. Happy Birthday! 🎂 — 4 years ago
Tonight we are keeping it simple at home. We ordered delivery from Pasta Flyer, the brainchild of Mark Ladner who made his name as the Executive Chef of Del Posto during its 4*s from the NY Times days. The Rigatone with Ragu is delicious and the sort of thing that is nigh impossible to achieve at home given the slow cooking patience involved. The Fusilli with Basil Pesto is a little grassy but tasted of spring. The Spaghetti with meatballs is probably the least authentic pasta but it can only be a crowd pleaser. Who cares if it isn't Italian... We are in New York. New York authentic, perhaps. The quantity could feed a crowd, which made me happy as I was hungry and didn't need to share.
I opened this entry level Barolo from Oberto. 2013 was such a fabulous vintage for Barolo and it's great to see success at the affordable level as well as the top end. This under $40 wine is plush, inviting and just plain scrumptious. Midweight, it's one for the near term, which is fine by me. Crack open some of these while waiting for the big boy Barolos to age in the cellar for a few years.
Simple and delicious. Pasta and Barolo. — 6 years ago

WNH NY, 2021.
From magnum.
Extracted to say the least. Bricking has started. Nose displayed smoke, wood, cigar box. Palate was big with olive tapenade and overripe cherries. Caught this just in time. Excellent acid profile. Always sweet and dense. This is a Rhône heavyweight for sure. 750’s from this vintage should be consumed. Mags will last, but no further improvement opportunities.
