Wow. Amazing. Fresh as a daisy.

Nose is almost savory.

Palate is vibrant. Bright cherries. Deep. Delicious. cherry licorice.

Needs an hour decant.


Just had 3 days later from a Saran wrapped decanter. Omg. nose is platonic ideal of Nebbiolo. Palate is perfect. Insane texture. Cherry perfume. Almost orgasmic. High end burgundy elegance. #

Has this elegant deliciousness like gc burgundy. A hint of sluttiness like DRC RSV. But still elegant. Astonishing.

Sophia Loren. This is Fucking Sophia Loren.

So delicious but also so elegant. Oh. My. God.

Day 3.

I abused this wine and it’s fucking brilliant.

If this guy played the game he’d be top 20. Maybe top 10.

Costa Russi Langhe Nebbiolo 1998

Lovely tonight. Have been fortunate enough to have several bottles of this over the years. Somewhere between the “traditional” and “modern” Piedmont style, but undoubtably delicious and very recognizable as nebbiolo. Definitely somewhat exuberant on both the nose and the palate. Seamless and well integrated with 1.5 hours of air. Excellent refreshing and lifting acid. Long finish. Perfect pairing with double cut lamb chops. — 4 hours ago

Gorgeous clear cherry on the nose. Round and opulent and so pretty. Spice, cinnamon, tar, tobacco, so clear and vivid. Palate is ripe, deep, powerful and very concentrated. Really this is a large scaled wine but still has an elegant yet intense structure. Red fruits all the way and a bit awkward initially and needs maybe 40 minutes to get there. Delicious stuff. Long finish and really high quality fruit that only comes from a top top vintage. — 4 days ago

N: Well , the wife and I said fruity shoes!
Lots of leather, black cherries, salt, plums, tar. Almost Nebbiolo tar.
P: Black Black cherries, an unidentifiable bitterness on the finish like biting into a cherry pit. Savory elements mixed with generous fruit. Bright acidity, low tannins.
A big boy, 15°, but carries its weight Very well. Can’t wait to see how this ages.
At the base of the torré Barbaresco.
Yummmm. Planted in territory usually reserved for Nebbiolo.

Opened 1 hour prior to tasting. Beautiful mature Barolo. Looks like red burgundy. Sappy, resiny aromatics with some herbal notes. Lovely balance here. Long finish. Delicious and complete. Enjoyed with Porcini Risotto. — 2 days ago

"The Damilano 2016 Barolo Cannubi shows depth and a profound nature. These conditions contribute to the dark concentration and the firm textural support found here. These assets are particularly apparent in this classic vintage. Mr. Squiggles delivers again. Unreal cherry fruit purity on the nose. So clear. Just stunning. Such round cherry. Multifaceted. Really profound for a village Barbaresco. Cherry perfume. So good. Palate is a beast. Super concentrated and so sappy with unreal dark red cherry fruit. Finish echoes like a clap of thunder. Licorice and tree dust now. Such earthiness.
