Clos de la Roilette Fleurie Gamay 2022

I knew these need time but don’t remember such disjointedness when young? — 2 days ago

I’ve noticed that, in recent years, many types of wines (particularly from various regions in France) seem blockier and less unified/integrated when young. Like all the components are there, but separated and not vertically integrated. And it seems more pronounced the hotter the growing season that year. I am beginning to think this is a result of global warming. What I don’t yet have a fix on is if time in bottle ultimately integrates these wines. Since I tend to drink wines on the younger side, I’m not sure I’ll ever get to the point where I can make a confident conclusion on that.

Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2017

Deep ruby in color with slight brick color on the rim. Nose is quite pleasing with berry compote, lavender, and dark chocolate. Also a bit of earthiness. Wow. A great mouthfeel on this wine. Well balanced with tannins still a bit heavy. That said, I like my wines with a bit more tannic backbone. These notes are from pop and pour taste. Will let it open up a bit and will update if it changes significantly. — 6 days ago

Still very tight.
Lets see what is brings on day 3.
So much better on day 3. Softer, smoother, more gentle.
Day 1 91
Day 3 94 so rounded to 93

Château Latour

Premier Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2007

No formal notes . Medium deep ruby , thinner rim. Quite deep and spicy nose , dark fruits , quite classic . On the palate quite dense , but rounded and suave tannin . Quite dense and meaty after a while , long and really well balanced , good length and a mineral , slate tinged finish. In this flight this was quite obvious as Latour , just the structure and density marked it out . This is a good Latour to enjoy at the moment , the tannin is polished, good freshness and density. No rush however I expect this to continue well for a least another decade , maybe more — 5 days ago

Domaine François Raveneau

Butteaux Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2004

Bought on release, $89.95, it’s gorgeous—but so tight at 21 years of age—surprisingly so. Fruit takes a back seat to acidity and structure as well as chalk and minerality. I really like this wine and it will live decades but tonight I’m happily sacrificing a little tooth enamel. — 6 days ago

Château Margaux

Premier Grand Cru Classé Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2007

No formal notes. Maybe slightly less dense ruby, wider rim . More refined and quite elegant , medium bodied , slightly more cooler greener fruits . This quite aromatic initially, mix of red and dark hedgerow fruits . A little more refined and small boned , perhaps a little light a shorter than others . This was impressive out of the gate , aromatic and charming quite mineral also , though it was the only wine that faded a little with time in the glass . This appears to be at its peak though probably will remain here for another 5 -10 years perhaps — 5 days ago
