Tannic in character but ultimately quaffable, drank recently with my Penne Rigate al Ragú alla Bolognese (my own concoction) only £5.29 from Lidl just down the road from me. — a month ago

Needs food but not the spiciest red. And not too dry either. This is happens to be the strongest wine we tried tonight (1/8/2026) — 8 months ago
Nice representative amarone - dark ruby coloration. Cherry and spices on the nose. Cherry, prune, spice and chocolate on the palate. Full bodied and rich with a decent finish. — 3 years ago
Very tasty. Sweet and earthy. Intense flavor. From Howie, February 2021. — 6 years ago
Unnecessarily heavy bottle. Nose is quite vinous, showing bright winey berries and cherry licorice candy, along with a whiff of almond paste. The palate is vigorous but bright and fresh, with nice depth. Tangy acids and a little metallic/mineral note in the slightly bitterish finish. It’s got the “cleansing” character that pairs well with casual, tomato-saucy Italian dishes. I could be wrong but I’m guessing that this has no slightly dried grapes in it nor was any appasimento technique used. Just fresh ripe grapes. — 2 months ago
2023 vintage.
Bright ruby red in the glass.
Aromas grab you immediately wth ripe cherries and lifted dark floral notes.
Bright ripe cherries, tea, young leather, a bit of subois earthy notes with a finish of Morello cherry bitterness but not overpowering.
Polished tannins with crisp acidity. Biodynamicly grown.
Try Corte Pavone Brunello di Montalcino if you have the opportunity.

Crazy crazy wine.
Basically like someone in burgundy 40 years ago made a Sangiovese in Emilia Romagna.
So this is still tight and young.
Nose: green. Flits with floral. Fleeting pink roses. Like glimmers of Audrey Hepburn. Hints of earth. Savory as it opens.
Palate tannic. Pink rose juice. Fleeting an beautiful. Grippy. Long. Delicious after it opens. Amazing aromatics. Silky as it opens.
Needs a 60-120 minute decant. Nuts for a $30 wine. But it was underpriced bc it’s ER.
Wow. A singular wine. Never had a Sangiovese like this. “Cool” climate. Totally different expression. Wow. Like the valtellina of Sangiovese.
Crazy. Crazy. Crazy. The craziest instantiation of Sangiovese I’ve had. Like maybe super old pre climate warming Brunello.
