Riserva 'Inu Cannonau di Sardegna 2017

Pour of the evening in front of the last rugby game of the 2026 6 Nations tournament (what a game!). Almond, blackberry, licorice, smoke. This is not your typical grenache nose. The palate is showing some moderately powerful acid drive, it's full bodied, with an impressive width, some thick, concentrated matter, some nice fruity notes all along, a bit of an oaky, smoky touch, some tannins in the rear, giving a bit of a drying layer over a quite long blackberry, smoky, oaky finish with a bit of a bitter note in the end. It's quite structured, muscular and concentrated for a grenache but it's delivering a great tasting experience. Great pour! — 3 months ago

Riserva Vernaccia di Oristano 1991

Drinking something unique and old like this is often a joy. But, I’d put this in the interesting but not delicious category. Brown like a Solera sherry, I can really only imagine this wine working in a haute cuisine pairing. Or in Sardinia on a cliff overlooking the sea, eating fried fish or some pecorino with tartufo and nuts as an antipasto. — 6 years ago

Ghiaie della Furba Toscana Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2007

During the Renaissance, the property was controlled by the Medici family, after several marriages it’s now controlled by the Contini Bonacossi family since early 20th century and is run by the Bonacossi’s; Filippo, Bernadetta & Beatrice. I met Beatrice at a private tasting. Deep Ruby, very ripe aromas of fruit & spice. Cherry/Raspberry & sweet spice, earthy tones & cacao, complex. Aged developed tannins, lingering, shows deep earthy tones, perfect now, at the end of its aging potential. Very Nice!! — 8 years ago

Thick, dense, heavy, dry fruit. Good, clean, but not terribly versitile. Good that it was a dessert pairing. Will try again. — 9 years ago

Pariglia Vermentino di Sardegna 2018

Delectable Wine
9.1

Clean, piercing lemony and mineral aroma and flavors show above average depth and complexity in this tasty Vermentino from Contini. Long and refined through to the finish, the 2018 strikes me as the best Pariglia in many years. $13.00 (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, March 2020) — 6 years ago

Valle del Tirso Nieddera Rosé 2017

Delectable Wine
9.1

Medium pink-red. High-pitched, perfumed aromas of red cherry and plum, with a fresh grapefruit quality and a touch of peach. Deep and juicy, with precise red fruit flavors enlivened by harmonious acidity. Finishes long and suave, with impeccable balance, showcasing lingering red fruit and spice notes. Lots of flavor and only 11.5% alcohol. 100% Nieddera. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, June 2018)

Villa Di Capezzana Carmignano Sangiovese Blend 2010

Really well balanced with lots of fruit and a touch of spice on the nose. Wine did well with pasta and paired well with the cheese at the end of the meal. Good finish that seemed to improve after a couple hours of breathing. — 9 years ago
